Now I am totally feeling ashamed of my feeble attempts at homemade cakes - those are amazing!!!! Enough about the book of poetry, I am now officially lobbying for you to have your own Discovery Channel show. Irritated Cakes? Cakes with a Touch of Snark? Though these don't show a hint of the crotchety old woman who creates them. Give me time, I will think of the perfect name.

I just baked a birthday cake yesterday. At first I felt a bit pissy but when it was delivered the smiles that it generated were ample payment and made it all worth while.

That conundrum is so familiar to me! You're a good mom and a good baker and some day you'll have hundreds of memories of these cakes (not to mention the photos) that will sweep away the disgruntled or pissy or bloated or tired feelings that you have right now. And these look so yummy!

As long as the cakes themselves aren't pissy, bloated, or tired, you have no reason to feel guilty. Those are some beautiful cakes!

man, those are amazing! You should have a business making custom cakes. I'd suggest starting by printing up some business cards, giving them to your kids' friends' parents so they get the hint that you'll be charging from now on....

COS ~ I know … and I do love them all (the kids) … that’s why I keep the pictures … after the work is over and the birthday is gone, I like to look back and feel good about it. Ha!

I had visualized a show where a sweet and large bosomed older lady shared her cake decorating skills while interjecting snippets of some of clever social commentary and then breaks out some sweet poetry just to throw people off.

I hate those guilt feelings when you know you are good at something and everyone wants what you got to offer. One of our best friends is a former pastry chef. He ALWAYS get stuck with the dessert. I'm waiting for him to go ballistic one night and bring out an Uzi on us! We will totally deserve it. Your cakes, Ann, look like something else. I'm craving.

I always seem to be late to the party, but, Oh Yum! These look fantastic! Almost too pretty to cut into! But I'll bet no one had any trouble doing it. It's good to do nice things for people you like/love. You get tired and sometimes cranky, but in the end, the thank you's and kudos make up for it. Rated for total beauty and sweetness. D
