Dear Joan,
I was wondering how you felt about Michelle Bernard appearing on Hardball last night and not being questioned about that breast cancer video ad being circulated by the organization she presides over, the Independent Women's Forum. Bernard is President and CEO of the IWF.
Do you think Michelle Bernard should be called out and held accoutable for the ad, run by the organization she represents, or given a pass because she is a MSNBC analyst and thus allowed to continue offering opinion on other topics without being challenged on this one?

I am disgusted by the depths that people will go to in order to scare people. I guess it's better for the THOUSANDS of women who don't have the money to pay for a mammogram out of pocket to die than have "socialized medicine" in our country.
Foolishness.
Thanks Jodi ... I was thinking the same thing.
I believe that yes, Zuma, I am finally outraged!
Take me home momma and put me to bed. I have seen enough to know I have seen too much.
Pardon me while I go drive the porcelain bus now.
Good job, Ann. Outraged is not a strong enough word.
Obama had best get on his lecture hat and set this crap right. No time like the present.
We need him to stand up and say boo to these morons. The public health option better be there.
Sorry, that scream of sheer rage is all i got
This ad is insulting on so many levels, most especially because it comes from WOMEN. It's the Sarah Palin/Ann Coulter club aiming at us with both barrels. We have GOT to put a stop to this craziness.
Joan, you have such a strong voice. I hope you'll use it on this one.
Ah, democracy!
Where are all the christian churches and pulpit pounders on health care? Why is this not a moral issue for those with "I vote Life" bumper stickers? How does the "moral" folk of this country sleep at night knowing their neighbors are dying for lack of healthcare access?
On behalf of my friend who is in the fight of her life against breast cancer, I think it's high time I write a few emails to the IWF, Michelle Bernard, MSNBC, and my elected officials.
Robin, I am so truly sorry for your loss and for this disgraceful ad.
Great idea mamoore - and I was on the same train ... already fired a few emails off myself.

The website for IFW is www.ifw.org - if you click on television appearances, you can find another video of them selling it on FOX News. It's way rich when the IFW Chair starts talking about not having the government controlling women's reproductive health (I hope the Jon Stewarts of the world save that one for the next big attack on abortion rights).
Deep breath. Deep breath.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention---especially those of us who have been ...uh...out of touch.
This is appalling. Frankly, how "conservative" Republicans can utter concern for the health of women, based on their views of a women's right to control her reproductive processes and not choke with the effort astounds me.
Michelle Bernard may well be smart and driven, and she may well believe her views are in the country's best interest---I don't know for sure, because I can rarely see past her smarmy delivery. But that is not the point.
The point is under the current system, thousands, maybe millions, of women cannot afford to take the first steps---seeing a doctor, having annual mammograms. They are already dying.
But I guess those aren't the women the IWF are concerned about.
I am so dumbfounded right now.
Thanks for blowing the whistle.
Reddit-ed!
I literally feel sick on behalf of us all.
I watched the video. Nothing I can add except to second all the comments here. My wife and three of her dearest friends are breast cancer patients or survivors, and all support Obama's health care reform efforts. Sometimes I just don't understand the selfishness and self-centeredness of so many people in this world.
Bernard is articulate but always has a smug edge IMHO. I will never be able to take her seriously again. This is despicable and mean spiritied.
Strong work, Mom.
Thanks to all of you for your comments here. I think we need to raise the volume a little more ... for Robin's wife and Griff's wife and all of the others.
