I have been gripped with anger since reading the prologue to Robert Draper’s new Book DO NOT ASK WHAT GOOD WE DO. Mr Draper documents a dinner you all attended on January 20, 2009 in Washington DC; on the very evening of the Obama Inauguration and within blocks of the Inauguration Balls.

While you were eating and drinking that night, in Draper’s words: ". . .the U.S. unemployment rate climbed to 7.6 percent, the highest indicator of national misery in eighteen years. Things would get much worse. Joblessness in America would exceed 8 percent the following month. By May 2009, the number would climb to 9.4 percent, and by October to 10.2 percent. The avalanche of the financial markets during the summer of 2008, and the global recession it triggered, had dealt America a battering that the Bureau of Statistics would be at pains to capture in its bloodless data. Coming seven years after the existential blow of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the American condition of 2009 could not be adequately characterized as "the worst recession since the Great Depression.""

And yet, in the midst of our country’s worst financial crisis since 1930, your focus was to destroy Obama’s Presidency. Draper states the financial crisis was "forgotten, or at least not discussed that night. . ."

During the four hours that you ate and drank, you outlined your strategy to destroy Obama’s Presidency. You agreed to:

"Go after Geithner. (And indeed Kyl did, the next day)

Show united and unyielding opposition to the president’s economic policies. (Eight days later, Cantor would hold the House Republicans to a unanimous No against Obama’s economic stimulus plan.)

Begin attacking vulnerable Democrats on the airwaves. (The first National Republican Congressional Committee attack ads would run in less than two months.)

Win the spear point of the House in 2010. Jab Obama relentlessly in 2011. Win the White House and Senate in 2012."

And, you have relentlessly stuck to your plan over the past 3½ years.

First off, I respectfully remind all the elected officials listed above, that you took an Oath of Office. You swore, in that oath:

Nowhere in that Oath do you swear allegiance to your party. And yet, party – the Republican Party – is where you placed your allegiance. Even as the American people suffered the worst economic crisis since the 1930s. During this recession, which began in the Bush Presidency, 8.8 million Americans have lost their jobs, almost 3 million Americans have lost their homes, 9.3 million Americans have lost their healthcare – and like Nero did as Rome burned, you fiddled. Actually, what you did was worse than fiddling. You joined forces with the RNC, Fox News, conservative talk radio, bloggers, and print media, as well as elected Republicans at the State and Federal level to accomplish your goal to destroy Obama.

What is it about Obama that scares you all so much that you decided it was more important to destroy him, let the American people be damned?

Let’s look at ‘Obamacare’. In July, 2009, you, Jim DeMint famously said, "If we are able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him." You also promised that the Senate Republicans would stall voting on ‘Obamacare’ until after the August recess in order to give the ginned up Tea Party time to make enough chaos at Townhall meetings and protests. And, indeed you all did.

Ginned up Tea Party you ask? Yes, ginned up by Fox News, conservative bloggers, talk radio, and print media, and financed by the Koch brothers. Death panels, pull the plug on grandma, socialized medicine, Obama’s a communist, Obama was born in Kenya, Obama believes in a Kenyan anti-Colonialism, blah, blah, blah. You preyed on the fears and anger of Americans during this vulnerable time. And the ‘lame stream’ media helped you by covering the chaos. The ‘lame stream’ media did not expose the major role Fox News played in creating the tea party ‘phenomena’.

But you weren’t done there. After ‘Obamacare’ was passed, the Republican State Attorneys General did their part. They sued the Federal Government declaring ‘Obamacare’ unconstitutional. States with Republican Governors and State Legislatures are not complying with the ‘Obamacare" requirement to develop the state based health care exchanges. Now, it is at the Supreme Court - the Supreme Court with the 5 conservative Judge majority.

What is making me so crazy is that no one seems to care that Republicans and conservatives made a unified pact to destroy Obama’s presidency. No one seems to care that in this dire time for our Country, Republicans chose their own party’s political future over the well being of the American people.

I am not so naïve as to believe that political parties aren’t or shouldn’t be interested in getting their party members elected. But what you have orchestrated and participated in over the past 3 ½ years, goes far beyond party loyalty.

Yet, the revelation in Draper’s book did not even get a one day news cycle focus. (By contrast: The Hilary Rosen flap got more than a week news cycle focus and the Republicans are still trying to keep it going with the ‘Mother’s Day card ad’ and Ann Romney’s Mother’s Day op-ed USA Today.)

The conservatives I talk to (all being Fox News viewers) about this situation, shock me by how palpable their hatred is towards Obama. The liberals I talk to just sort of shrug and say we have known this all along, this isn’t news. NO!

This is the point. Liberals have thought this all along – it was opinion. When Draper documented this scheme in his book – it became a fact. A difference with a distinction. Fact is not the same as opinion. Facts are verifiable, opinions are not. When opinions are verified – they are facts.

I’ll ask my questions again:

Where is the outrage?

This scheme won Republicans the House in 2010 (goal met). In Nov, 2010, Mitch McConnell, R., Senate Minority Leader, said "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one term president." The drumbeat against Obama was relentless in 2011 (goal met). But, we were apparently supposed to forget what McConnell said. In Oct, 2011, McConnell said on CNN, "Their (White House) story line is that there must be some villain out there who’s keeping this administration from succeeding." There was and continues to be. It is the villainy of the Republican/conservative cabal.

Let me be clear, I think the Obama administration has been incredibly successful, especially in light of the cabal working to destroy him. The Legislation enacted, such as the Stimulus and ‘Obamacare’, contained conservative ideas as well as liberal ideas, but the cabal noise machine is and was tireless in its’ efforts to distort and outright lie about the content and effect of the legislation. (Even legislation that was co-sponsored by a Republican couldn’t get passed. Inexplicably, the Republican co-sponsors voted against their own bills.) And the ‘lame stream’ media has allowed the cabal noise machine distortions and lies to go unchallenged.

I am outraged by the cabal working to destroy Obama. You know, the same cabal that calls Obama, "The most divisive President in U.S. history." That’s rich!

When is treachery not unAmerican?

Apparently when it is orchestrated by Republicans and Conservatives.

This American will shout as loud as one voice can to defeat you in your efforts.
