Looking at the date of my last post, I realized I have been away from here for awhile now. Sometime around mid April, my life took a turn for the crazier and I have had neither the inspiration or the motivation to write anything meaningful. And thanks to the gray, gloomy weather that always seems to occur on my days off, I haven't even taken any new photos to share.
There is only one event in the last few weeks that has inspired me enough to write a few words. Last Saturday I had the privilege of watching my good friend Steve receive his Masters degree in Music Therapy. It has been a long time coming with many delays and setbacks but he finally did it and most of us friends who were present have been with him since the beginning.
I have known some of these friends since grade school, we have all known Steve since high school, back in the 80's. Back in the days when he had long hair, tight jeans and wanted to be a heavy metal guitar legend. He still has long hair, still loves metal, only now he is taking that love of music and is using it to help others. Can anything be better than that?
It was a day to not only celebrate Steve's accomplishment, but to enjoy each other's company. We don't get to see each other as often as we used to, but over the years we always try to make it for the big events. There have been many graduations, weddings, birthdays, baby showers and even funerals in the 25+ years that most of us have know one another. We have all been through a lot together. Let's face it, a person goes through a lot of changes from 16 to 40. So many people come and go through your life and yet here we all are still together. From teenagers to (gulp!) middle aged. Our waistlines may be larger, our hair may be grayer and or thinner, but its still the same old gang, laughing at the same old jokes and adding even more memories of good times shared.
