Bio
I'm a photographer not a writer. Became a photographer when I realized I was better behind the camera than in front of it. This is an experiment to see if the beauty of my words will ever live up to the beauty of my photographs. so far the photographs are winning, but I haven't given up yet.

Raspberry and Honeysuckle

Rate: 6 Flag

Late spring is probably my favorite time of year, when everything is green and alive before the hush and the heat of summer have settled in. Nothing represents this season more than the sight and sweet smell of honeysuckle.

That scent always brings back memories. It was the first perfume I was allowed to wear, although the man-made version is never as good as the original. I remember my friend in grade school showing me how to pluck the blossoms and taste the sweet nectar or "honey" inside.

As I walked the trail near my home it seemed as if honeysuckle was everywhere, climbing up tree trunks or peeking out of bushes.

In fact, the only thing I see more of are the wild raspberries.

Its hard to miss those fuzzy pink stems filled with buds.

Looks like there will be plenty of berries next month, I'm sure the birds, deer and other wild life will be quite appreciative but I hope they leave a few for me.

Seek, and ye shall find, as it turns out. Good to see you, 'Bug. The honeysuckle is going berserk around here (both the bush and climbing varietals). Can almost smell yours through the photos.

Gotta get the Nikon out....
I concur with Boanerges, Shurtterbug. I love the scent of honeysuckle which takes me back to my childhood in Turkey, where the flower is called "ladies hand". It's also used in a lighly fragranced cologne. I haven't seen scented variations back home in Montreal, but I do have a raspberry bush that must be in action slowly. Lovely photos, glad to see you back.

Thanks for this. Great pics and now I must use honeysuckle and raspberry in my next poem. Rated.
What a lovely combination ... wild raspberries and honeysuckle. I'll look forward to pictures of the raspberries next month, Shutterbug!

I hope all is now well. Take care. Best wishes.
These are gorgeous! Beautiful colors, light, and composition!
Honeysuckle is hard to photograph, nice job.
Thanks for all the comments, sorry I'm so late in responding, you'll see why in my new post.
