Late spring is probably my favorite time of year, when everything is green and alive before the hush and the heat of summer have settled in. Nothing represents this season more than the sight and sweet smell of honeysuckle.

That scent always brings back memories. It was the first perfume I was allowed to wear, although the man-made version is never as good as the original. I remember my friend in grade school showing me how to pluck the blossoms and taste the sweet nectar or "honey" inside.

As I walked the trail near my home it seemed as if honeysuckle was everywhere, climbing up tree trunks or peeking out of bushes.

In fact, the only thing I see more of are the wild raspberries.

Its hard to miss those fuzzy pink stems filled with buds.
Looks like there will be plenty of berries next month, I'm sure the birds, deer and other wild life will be quite appreciative but I hope they leave a few for me.
