My guess? Many Salon members donate to NPR. In fact, it's a safe bet that the two audiences are almost identical. I'm sure many of you are aware that Salon's Glenn Greenwald has taken NPR, specifically its ombudsman Alicia Shephard, to task over its refusal to describe "enhanced interrogation techniques" as torture (latest update here).
I know that calls to action aren't really a Salon thing, but since the controversy is local, I figured why not. NPR isn't hosting a pledge drive right now, that I know of, but go ahead and contact them anyway and pledge that you won't donate money until they reverse their stance. They're hosting several radio forums on the issue, but really, what is there to discuss?
Contact Alexis Romero (in charge member donations) at (202) 513-2097 to let your voice (and money) be heard.
For Corporate Sponsorships, contact John King at (202) 513-2093.
This is ESPECIALLY important if you are a business/corporate donor, as over HALF of NPRs operating money is derived from the private sector, primarily corporate donations.

Going to keep an eye on this now.... If torture is as torture does, then it's time to face the music and USE THE WORD. We can feel ashamed, but pretending it didn't happen is useless.
