The Last Cardboard Box...by Michael

Rate: 0 Flag
Nancy unpacked the cardboard boxes one at a time. She had just moved into her new home and carefully placed each item in its proper place. Finally the last box was opened and at the bottom happened to be the final item. It was a photo album from her high school years which she totally forgot about. After throwing out the last cardboard box, she took the album to the kitchen table and wiped off the twenty years of collected dust. It was something she hadn't opened in quite some time. Nancy flipped through the pages and smiled at the fond memories that were captured back then. She cried when looking at the last page with a photo of her and her high school sweetheart. Carl unpacked the cardboard boxes one at a time. He had just moved into his new home and carefully placed each item in its proper place. He found the final item in the last box as it was a photo album from his high school years. He took the album to the kitchen table and wiped off the twenty years of collected dust. He cried when looking at the last page with a photo of him and his high school sweetheart. Nancy fell asleep that night and smiled at the fond memories. So did Carl. It was a Saturday morning the next day that month of July. She decided to mow the front lawn. Her next door neighbor was doing the same thing as they both looked at each at the same time. "Hello, I'm your new neighbor Carl", he said to her. "I'm your new neighbor Nancy", she replied. The names and faces rang a bell in each others memories Without saying another word, they walked towards each and hugged for quite a while. A lot of tears of joy was shed at this unexpected memory returning once again. The retired married couple many years later moved to Florida and unpacked the last cardboard box. They dusted off an old wedding album and smiled at the fond memories. Maybe we move and unpack some memories with a tear in our eyes. Then it is retrieved and relived again from a next door neighbor who happened to be at the right place at the right time. Case in point in a short love story about Nancy and Carl found once again in the last cardboard box....
