My View of Bitez Bay

Rate: 58 Flag

photograph by algis kemezys ,

The view from my second story window gives me an eyeful of Bitez Bay on the south-eastern Aegean coast of Turkey. I usually check it out to see if the bay is calm or somewhat wavy. If the conditions are right I hop down to the shore which is less than a minute away.

photograph by algis kemezys ,

There, I either make a photograph if one presents itself, like the ones above, or I wander along the shoreline to where I have been making these balanced stone sculptures. I have seen a lot of variations and witness a good many fabulous sunsets this year. Here is a selection  of my favorite sculptures using a method which gives a surreal edge to the images.

It has been updated with many new images because my technique for creating these photographs of the ancient Greek sculptures in stone has become... oh so much better.

My gallery in New York City, OK HARRIS is looking forward to seeing them printed, and hence there is the possibility of a show .

You assimilate Nature's Beauty. Bay etc.,
Lights sparkle. Inside You become Light.
I remember Nova Scotia, Canada - Thanks.
`
Shakespeare had a plea - prayer
May the Beauty transform me
Beauty is naked Nature truth
`
Hey you? You wear any clothes?
TRYI'N On CLOTHES. Shel S..
`
I tried on a farmer's hat, didn't fit.
A little too small - Just a bit floppy.
Couldn't get used to it, took it off.

I tried on the dancer's shoes,
a little too loose.
Not the kind you could use
For walkin'.
Didn't feel right in 'em,
kicked them off.

I tried on the summer sun,
Felt good.
Nice and warm - knew it would.
Tried the grass beneath bare feet.
Felt neat.
Finally, finally felt well dressed.
Nature's clothes just fit best.

What a wonderful life you have!!
So piercingly beautiful. You so deserve this EP!
You are truly the master. I bow to you.
HUGGGGGGGGGG
Can we switch houses for a day or two or . . .?
Congratulations on the much-deserved EP, Algis!
Spectacular views and the water effect is so dreamy! Gorgeous! Seeing these photos reminds me that there is a big slice of heaven on earth!
Congratulations, Algis. You've captured the beauty outside your window magically. Once again.
R♥
That's one helluva view you have, Algis. Pretty decent snapshots, too. ;-D
I'm jealous of both your view and your artistry - and grateful that you're one of us.
beyond stunning photos & effects......
ep well deserved for freely giving out beauty...
you indeed "assmilate Nature's Beauty,"
as art says.
How gorgeous! The photos are so lovely and inviting, I can imagine myself floating in that sea. Thank you.
Wow! Your artwork is mesmerizing. I could stare at these tremendous images forever more.
If you ever need someone to carry your camera, let me know!
Algis, I wouldn't mind soaking up some sun on the boat shown in the last photo! Thanks for a wonderful set of views and the water effect is a nice touch!
SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spectacular use of a special effect throughout, though I must confess my prefewrence for the last image. Nicely done.
Wow-That is amazing.I would love to have that boat scene on my wall.

Lee Bergeron
Stunning, as always... ~r
I have a distant view of a lake, nothing as moving as your water photos! Well done.
So beautiful. You have some kind of magic. I felt like I was there, especially when I saw the one with the beautiful rose colored sunset sky. It took me out of my midwest living room and was about to plop me in the water when I suddenly resisted, remembering I had to get dinner on. Never has that happened before. Something magical there Algis and something very magical with you. That stone sculpture of the old Turkish man in his hat, arms folded and puffy pants stands frozen only for a minute and will again move amongst us. Again, as always, thank you for sharing.
Enjoy, Maestro; I definitely am. RRRRR
Algis, as always, you blow me away with your stones, your locations, your eye. Just beautiful. I must say, however, that I do not like the water effect at all. Your photographs are so striking on their own that the rippling (on only half the water) is distracting. The effect captures the eye and eats the power of the image. In my humble opinion. r.
Beautiful beyond what mere words could be spoken. -R-
Another good one! Fabulous sunsets and evocative sculptures. Still wondering about the water effect...
Great scenes Algis but all that watery action...Pass the gravol!
Open Salon is graced with an absolutely beautiful cover shot thanks to you. More beauty awaits here. Happy New Year, Algis.
skypixie0, Thanks so much for the envy...I really appreciate it and shall cherish these words from you.

James M. Emmerling, Thats beautiful I am sure they would look cool too if you had just smoked a number as well. maybe even more so.
No-one will ever accuse you of not leaving the world a more beautiful place, Algis.
A clear reflection of Turkish waters: "Come like the water. Go like the water."
Really cool and wet! They've said it all except well done! :)
What gorgeous and dreamy views! I loved all of these images, but the last one is just breathtaking - it looks like an Impressionist painting! Just stunning....
I'm speechless...new here and loving it!
Liz
Congrats on the well-deserved EP. The water effect is amazing. Such a beautiful place in the world.

An amazing view and skill you have there.
I'll swap it for the River Thames and some rain but you'll have to collect it as the postage is rather high.

"Press send please FRed(tm), rate with an Ug then get the wrapping paper please Boy."

Belinda T. Oh my, please do then and then tell us about it.Thanks!

scanner A OK...Thanks again for that offer. What about a video camera would you mind lugging that? Just kidding.

Thank you for letting me know about this little bit of heaven you're experiencing , I think we all wish we were there! Thanks for sharing these images, and by the way I like your new banner! BTW I love these meditative stone sculptures--Andy Goldsworthy look out!
Me like the water effect. I would like to see a dragon in the water with the water effect, it would be neat. Being a Pisces - anything to do with water - I am in - literally! Now for the first pic with the boat just like it is planted in the water - this consumes me - makes me want to bare it all.
Thanks for another great post my friend. Rated with a Jali Smile of course. :-)
Surreal! Dali-esque! Love the ripples! I can smell the ocean. I see a whirling dervish and other locals in the sculptures. Algis, you always tickle my imagination. Cok guzel.
Kim Gamble, Oh that is so wonderful. Thanks ! I really thank you big time for that. Hope your year goes well too.

GHung, Thanks....I love that quote ... Cheers!

Kevin Army, Thanks so much and the same for you and more..Cheers

Dicky Neely ,Thats OK because it is the comment that means so much and the nervous feeling comes from probably being amazed that a still image could do this. Cheers!
Congrats on the EP. I had a whole other post written up and my internet connection barfed just as I hit post. Oh well. In short, it's a general, "You Rock, man!" kind of post and I'll just leave it at that. Wonderful stuff.

I'd love to see more photos of your sculptures in bright daylight with stark shadows on them. Might make an interesting study.

Well deserved EP and well done!

--r--
A stunning display as always.
The Aegean Sea coast has the bluest sparkling waters. I have ever swum
Everyone thinks it. so I'll say it: We have here a genius in our midst. Alex, however to you make the sea come alive? I can't even take or if I take, cannot upload a photo. You make beauty all the time. RRRR
Oh how I wish I were looking at these magnificent scenes as I waded out to touch them. You are so talented and I love the rippling water.
rated with love
Anne Cameron Cutri, Thanks so much. That is really so fine and more. I wish you were here then. Really appreciate it and hope your New Year is superb.

JALI 17, Oh, that is so fine and more. Wish you were here then and having a nice cupper with me. Thanks!

Flip da Lid , Wow, you have a great imagination and more. Wish you were here for a cup of Chai on me. Thanks again.
I'm extremely envious about the way you bounce around the world and the things you see...and grateful when you share them with us. I can't keep up with you. I thought you were back in Canada....how come you never come to Florida. Oh, right. I wouldn't come here either if I had a choice between Florida and the places you go. Good show.
Exquisite!!! I just looked up 'water effect'. What an amazing tool to enhance these gorgeous images. I'm going to try it out today. RR
A stunning share and worthy EP.
Magical! I could look at these over and over and find something new and wonderful each time!
R
Gorgeous photographs! wow! I'm totally jealous. I've always wanted to trace the footsteps of Alexander the Great in Turkey at least. Many good sites to be seen during such a trip, I am told.

Hi Algis, how could I not like a view of sailboats and water and sculpture!

(the effects begin to wear on me though, a little... anyway)

over the past year you have been so generous here and of course, when I put my hand out toward the sails and caught that image (on Pica Chu) it was in direct reference to you, a tip of the hat.... so sincere thanks for the inspiration and instruction you've so freely given.

I hope you investigated Margot Benacerraf (Araya) extraordinary images there of Venezuela. I left that in a comment for you somewhere...

Así que....¡Saludos, señor poeta de la imagen!
dunniteowl , Thanks again, I am so glad you saw these and were inspired. I like some in complete silhouette and others showing the rock. Eventually there shall be more here.

emma peel 2 , Your really stunning for saying that emma. Thanks a million and I hope your fine these days too? HNY

CommunicationsLanguagesCulture , I know it calls me to swimm on a daily basis but unfortunately now it is too cold...but not freezing so some folks still are.

Susie Lindau, Thanks for dropping by and yes Gif files rock . Cheers!
I just said "Oh My God!" out loud, ten times and no-one is in the room.
Good luck with your show Algis. (how about mounting a few of those stone sculptures in Central Park!)
Truly beautiful and the sculptures are so well integrated into their environment that they seem organic. Really wonderful.
