Unflouncing - A New's Years Note

Rate: 7 Flag

December 31,2009

The First Post of mine, trivial as I have seen by any was made 01/01/09.

This first year cruising the site, making some friends along the way and enjoying the passion of many is wrapping up today. An interesting read it has been.

I hope to have time in 2010 to continue to see what can and will be said on this site. More time means less work so it really would be better to know less of this place. That's my "Unflouncing".

I have had only a few cuss and snarl at me, and one of those, a highly talented person has become a favorite to read. I get occasional PM's from some very nice people...something I certainly did not imagine would happen when I signed up. If you are one who sent me a PM this year, I mean you. All those messages turned out to be pleasant surprises.

Some of you have had such a challenging year and in other times in your life. Immense challenges which you have met head on. Kudos to you and best wishes in the coming year.

Be safe, tread lightly when that feels right and go boldly into the future you imagine for yourself.

It all will fit together somehow.

Well, spoken. Happy New Year. Rated.
Call me an idiot (many of you already have) but I have no clue what "flouncing" is. Could some kind soul please PM me and give me the lowdown?
I know what flouncing is but I'm not sure how it applies here. That said, hope you continue as an OS member with both enough work and plenty of free time. Happy New Year.
@Professor:
...and a Happy New Year to you as well.
@ JB:
..."Flouncing", as I have understood it, is to quit the site with a flair and announcement of same. Since this has neither flair nor an announcement of quitting, it seemed to me to be "Unflouncing".
@ Donna Carbone :
...and a Happy New Year to you as well.
Thanks for being such a nice guy. I mean that.

Best of everything to you and yours in 2010.
It is good to recognize that while OS is a community -- it is a virtual community and as such, can not and should not become one's life. So, we'll see you tomorrow, okay?
@ Jeanette,

Aw, shucks.
(looks down and kicks pebble)

Happy New Year to you too.
@skeletnwnm,

That is "virtually" the same thing I was saying.
Happy New year to you.
Better said than any of us could do, for sure! Happy New year, dear, and many more writings and readings!

John: "Flouncing" is quitting OS with a big fat announcement and extensive discussion of the reasons for leaving, often followed by a "thanks for supporting me" post, then a triumphant return after more people show up to your page than ever before.

I like to do the non flounce combination of satire and rant when I am feeling that events and behavior here are just too much to put up with for no pay. But too many people don't get the satire. Those people don't get to borrow the travelling flounce dress or fart pants.
Very cool alsoknownas. And Happy New Year!
Huzzah!
@MJwycha,

Thanks for stopping by.
Here's to good music and a Happy New Year to you.
@ zumalicious,

Thanks for stopping by.I hadn't any idea that there were flounce clothing choices available.
Happy New Year to you.
Thank you, OS friend. Bright and beautiful things for you in 2010 as well.
Unflouncing = sweet word! Thanks for the post. :-)
I thought you meant you were unflouncing from a prior period of having flounced.
Waiting in anticipation for your next post!
