So, I did take the weekend off. Kind of.
Some of the logistical things for "A Year of Reading Dangerously" had to be dealt with.
For starters, I had to determine how much money I owe the St. Louis Public Library.
Eek! Yes, I know. I'm one of those terrible people who can't ever seem to return a book on time. It's not that I mean to. It's lik how I don't mean to put my own books through hell while loving them to death. Most of my books look like they've fought in a war. It's because I take them with into the tub, read while drinking spill-prone beverages. Eat greasy food while reading, dog ear pages.
God, I'm a terror with my own books. That's probably why I lose library books. I'm trying so hard not to decimate them.
But, I digress.
I owed over $20 and a book. Fortunately, I had it. I just hadn't gotten around to taking it back in long enough for the library to list it as "Lost."
So, with my faithful bassett hound at my side, I drove over, dumped it and now must just wait until my next pay day to pay off the rest of my fines.
Then, I'll be a step closer to starting the year. I'll have to request the books and get my ducks in a row, but I'm feeling pretty good.
Am still looking for a source other than Wikipedia for information that will let me discuss the Tintin controversy intelligently.
