I can't say that I'm surprised. It's a shame, but this is why a lot of the kids don't try to do well in school.

Dorinda, yep, I'm home with the baby. I'm home for the rest of this school year. Which is amazing -- I'll never have this chance again. But I am still astonished by what goes on in this city and CPS. Occasionally I have to write about it, although I'm trying not to think about work.

Olga, I thought about starting a counter, but I don't want to. But yeah, now it's 510, and that stabbing at DuSable today. Good Lord.

Angus, sorry for the distraction. I'm sure the celebrity moms have garnered way more attention than the 510 student shooting victims. Until I read that article, I didn't realize it was that bad, either. I mean, I knew how many kids had been killed, but that many shootings? It makes sense, in that whenever you hear about a shooting, I guess you should assume it's a CPS student involved. But it's still very upsetting. I don't know what my husband and I are going to do about school for our kids. I am sort of in denial.
