Whitney Houston Reportedly Dead at 48

Rate: 6 Flag

News reports indicate that Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48. Once pop music's reigning queen, Houston became little more than a punch line after her failed marriage to Bobby Brown and years of drug abuse ruined her once glorious singing voice. If the reports are true, then, sadly, the woman who gave us stirring versions of "The Greatest Love of All", "I'm Every Woman", "Saving All My Love For You" and other hits will be known more for her demise than for her voice.

Here's a video of Whitney belting out the National Anthem before the Super Bowl:

Sadly it's been confirmed.

As I would, I suppose everyone'd, like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, rather be reported dead than be so.
So true - in this case, simply tragic. Jersey-born, with a music pedigree, she conquered the music world in the '80s. Whether or not her death is directly attributed to her drug use, it is hard to imagine that her years of use did not contribute to her demise.
I remember her especially in the Movie "Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner & her magical voice. She had it all. R
Always very sad when someone with lots of talent goes so much before their time.
apparently died in a hotel room at luxury hotel in california. you can check out, but you can never leave....
whitney I had a crush on you once.
played with fire, and burned down.
RIP
A sad state of affairs.
ps shes probably dancing with michael jackson now. :p
vsn - you're probably right. In many ways, her death is quite similar to Michael Jackson's - they were the "king" and "queen" of pop music during the 80's and 90's, each abused their bodies (but with different forms of drugs) and each died way too young.
