- Bio
- I am a writer who is currently working on a compilation book about the lessons parents learn from dealing with the death or serious illness of a child. My inspiration for the book initially came from my own daughter’s diagnosis of retinoblastoma at age two. The lessons I learned from my daughter’s courage and perseverance changed my perspective and cause me to view difficult situations very differently. As I watched my two-year-old daughter lose her eye and all of her hair to cancer, I knew I would never be the same. She is now a healthy 12 year old, but the lessons I learned from her cancer have changed me forever.
If you would like to share your story about the lessons you or your loved ones have learned through the death of a child, please email me at angelapisel@gmail.com for further information. I am interested in interviewing parents who have lost children not only to illness, but by any other means and are interested in sharing the life lessons they have learned.

Being Mary Ann in a Ginger World
I used to suffer from a severe case of Ginger envy. Everyday, from four to four thirty, you could find me plopped in front of the TV on my overstuffed pastel purple bean bag chair eating a bowl of Count Chocula and praying this would be the day those poor Gilligan’s/… Read full post »

Lessons from a Dying Child
Lesson on Perspective…
We were there, hopefully, for a routine follow-up visit with my three-year-old daughter’s cancer doctor. Poor Grace I thought, I was sure she had the saddest story in the room. After all, she had lost her eye, lost her hair, and had just complete… Read full post »
Lessons from a Dying Child
A Lesson on Beauty...
I knew Gracie would probably lose her hair. “Chemotherapy almost always causes the hair to fall out,” the nurses explained. I hoped Grace would be the exception. Her long blonde curls were a source of joy for me. Giggles about pig-tails and decision… Read full post »
Christmas and the Ugg Boots
Christmas in my head looked something like this: Wake up around 8ish, quickly get breakfast casserole in the oven, leisurely walk to the foyer and smile as my beautiful four children descend the gorgeously decorated staircase. Then, we as a family proceed to the family room, where Olivia (7) sc/… Read full post »
