Being inspired, and inspiring others, is about all that matters! Ok, some facts for those of you enjoy details. I was born in Northern Ireland, but have been a grateful citizen of Canada since I was a child. In one form of another I am paid to have relationships with other people. Oh, that leaves a lot to the imagination, doesn't it!? Ok. Let's leave it there then! OS is a great place for me to learn and find inspiration. I hope I might inspire others on occasion while here.

The Fanatic Transformation

Rate: 3 Flag

I was in a black-out until 1986.  (Alcoholism amongst other struggles.) Then, from 1986 to at least 1990, I refer fondly to as a white-out, meaning I spent those early years of sobriety crying a lot, sitting in alot of AA meetings, and other non-remarkable in the scheme of sobriety, sobering up activities and experiences.    Today, if anyone mentions a band, or any part of the 80's culture, I can honestly say that I missed the entire decade due to my alcoholism.   This isn't a big deal to me really.  The most important years have been the sober ones since.  Sober now quite a while, I've never once been inclined to go back to the 80's and dig up any part of what I missed, music, movies, politics, or otherwise.

But then!  Out of nowhere, completely unexpectedly,  just a few months ago, I stumble upon Henry Rollins on IFC, hosting The Henry Rollins Show. The fanatic transformation was instantaneous.

I will write more about the man and my fanatical experience here in the days and weeks to come.  Stay tuned.  Fasten your seatbelt.

Meanwhile, read about Henry’s travels each week at henryrollins.com, and listen to his  genius broadcast each Saturday on the amazing kcrw.com  (No, I do not work for Henry. Never met him. Yep. I’m a Fanatic.  Certifiable.)

See you here again soon!

What fun! I'm such a Henry Rollins fan...xox
Hello again...I would say that Henry's impact on me has been...well...that he's the Lenny Bruce of my generation, I'm 47 years old so I think we're close in age...his pull no punches style has inspired me to say what I really think...and to think. I love this cliphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEGFJHeamEc

I call myself a girl with a boy's heart...my orientation is butch...and Henry really speaks to me....xox
btw...I'm sober, too! xox
Pretty much from my earliest memory i remember being abused by my parents physically and mentally. though not sexually over many years i have endured some horrible beatings and mind games aimed at screwing me up, luckily i found music and another family who would help my wife turn my life around.......in the early years books and music was my escape during my reading and music and discovered henry rollins. Some one i look upto along with my foster parents and wife given the right role models and situations i believe anyone can turn there life around
I first heard Henry singing for Black Flag 2 years ago when I was 14, now im 16 and have found his spkoen word material and poems so influential in what I do day-to-day. Henry is my hero and I hope to meet him when I see him in Toronto this coming March.
I first heard Henry sing on Black Flag's Damaged album and since then have dedicated the majority of my time to finding as much about Henry as I can. I have his entire spoken word collection thus far. I have been listening to him for 2 years now and i was 14 then and 16 now .
you didn't miss much in the 80s...if you had to lose a decade, that was the one to skip- hair bands; Reagan; disco...and those are the highlights!

Welcome to OS.
