Psalm 18
I used to think
being tender wasn't smart
And then I grew in to my heart
I avoided the bible for 40 years,
thinking,
so many translations
couldn't be true.
And then I saw:
The word of God is living*
The Holy Spirit shed light on it's meaning**
Not all the words of God
have been written
The world could not contain it.***
We humans have our flaws;
in hearing
in seeing
in speaking.
We twist reality
with the darkness of our own hearts.****
But God is merciful!
Turn around all you who are burdened
and ask
"Change our hearts of stone
to tenderness,
so that we may love one another.
Not on the one hand
professing to Love You Oh God,
and then
secretly or often bellowing
indignities
to our fellow man--
then we would be liars.*****
No, let us put away
vain imaginings
and open our hearts to
The One who has no End.
Our God
whose cup is never empty
and is willing to
pour out on all,
the greatest love there is!
*Hebrews 4:12.Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
**Acts 15:8.And God, who knows the human heart, testified to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us; 9.and in cleansing their hearts by faith he has made no distinction between them and us.
***John 21:25.But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.

****Matthew 13:15. For this people's heart has grown dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; so that they might not look with their eyes, and listen with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn? and I would heal them.'
Matthew15:14. Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if one blind person guides another, both will fall into a pit." 15.But Peter said to him, "Explain this parable to us." 16.Then he said, "Are you also still without understanding? 17.Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth enters the stomach, and goes out into the sewer? 18.But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this is what defiles.
Luke 6:45.The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.
*****John 4:7.Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8.Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.9. God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10.In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11.Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12.No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13.By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
