Psalm 21
Who do you associate with?
Do they uplift and encourage you,
or bring you down?
Are they people who truly care?
Are they for you or against you?
Are they for God or against God?
Beloved, we know that God loved us first.
So if God is for us, who can be against us?*
Let us invest in those who have
investment in us.
Elisha, a man of God, brought a
widow's son back to life.**
He counseled her to move her household,
for the Lord called for famine.
She followed his advice.
For 7 years she and her son
were protected and fed
in another land.
By heavenly intervention,
she was able to go back to her home
approved by the king.
It was because of Elisha.
She chose her friends wisely.
Jesus taught his followers
what a true friend is;
"to lay down one's life for another"***
To those who obeys His commands,
He calls friends.
He does not ask us to obey
out of dictatorship.
But as friend to friend
wanting our good.
Beloved, choose your friends wisely.
For it is far better Lord,
to spend one day in Your Courts,
than a thousand elsewhere!****
*Romans: 26.Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.27.And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28.We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.29.For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn within a large family. 30.And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified.31.What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?32.He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else?
**2Kings 8:1.Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, "Get up and go with your household, and settle wherever you can; for the Lord has called for a famine, and it will come on the land for seven years."2.So the woman got up and did according to the word of the man of God; she went with her household and settled in the land of the Philistines seven years.3.At the end of the seven years, when the woman returned from the land of the Philistines, she set out to appeal to the king for her house and her land.4.Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, "Tell me all the great things that Elisha has done."5.While he was telling the king how Elisha had restored a dead person to life, the woman whose son he had restored to life appealed to the king for her house and her land. Gehazi said, "My lord king, here is the woman, and here is her son whom Elisha restored to life."6.When the king questioned the woman, she told him. So the king appointed an official for her, saying, "Restore all that was hers, together with all the revenue of the fields from the day that she left the land until now."
***John 15: 12."This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.13.No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.14.You are my friends if you do what I command you.15.I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.16.You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.17.I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another
****Psalm 84: 10.For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than live in the tents of wickedness.11.For the Lord God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor. No good thing does the Lord withhold from those who walk uprightly.12.O Lord of hosts, happy is everyone who trusts in you.
