Bio
This blog is about the journey from here to there. Early posts have devotional poetry and prose with scripture included. Many deal with the difficulty of having people in my life who are living with cancer and have died from cancer. Now I'm focusing on going back to college in my 50's and discovering a new path to direct my art--which is art therapy. _________________________________________ All of the artwork I created unless otherwise noted. The language of love
is not complex
what gets in the way of it
IS
the measuring
the keeping score and expectations
the fears and frets
looking for it
searching and searching and searching for it
the lies
that the smallness of ourselves tells us
The heart doesn't know itself very well
even so
We must keep giving love
stretching it until it hurts
broadening the opening
as a flower with it's face toward the rain
So when the Beloved
sees fit to receprocate
we can catch every drop

Love is truly all we have to give that really matters
everything else flows from it to the river
to the ocean to the whole of our planet
to the whole of our universe and so on forever and ever
I just bought a passion plant vine for my patio
such a beautiful flower
it pleases me to see it illustrating
this delightful poem

“The language of love is not complex.” How true! Mind wants many things and speaks of many things. Heart speaks of only one thing, Love.
Lovely and true, thank you.
Absolutely, Anne, great to see you after such a long long time. This poem is so beautiful and that picture too - the flower is called Jhumkolata in our part of the world, we used to have a great bunch of that trailing over on one of the walls at the back but it cracked the wall and so we had to get rid of it.
Life remains a blessing even though we cannot bless~ and therefore we must keep loving (only it is hard sometimes to go on :) ) All the best to you.
Rted with a big hug.
Yes, I agree. I think we must just give and give. In the giving, we will receive. Even when we give and it is not reciprocated at that moment it will come later. By keeping score we become that which is opposite of love, we become the person that is accusatory rather than praising, we become the person that is waiting instead of engaging. I love these thoughts of yours. We must always give and then in all good time we shall receive. Thank-you for lifting me up a little higher tonight.
"The language of love is not complex." You are so right and we are often but not always so wrong. With my dad, it was pure and unconditional, and not in the least complex. People find this hard to believe, ya' know. But you hit the proverbial nail. Thank You. R
Romantic, thank you for your verse. I did this painting years ago after a wild passion flower. I find the wild ones much more beautiful. I later found out there is Christian symbolism. You can see more at this link:eartamerica.com/featured/passion-flower-anne-cutri.html
Suresh: Yes, mind is a many-layered thing!

Bleu: Thanks!

Rolling : Thank for a new dimension on the Passion Flower, I'll have to look you up to see where you are from!

Sparkling: I don't think we've met before. Thanks for your insightful words!

Wendyo: Good to see you again thanks for your insights too.
How your words touch me this morning, Anne.
I remember the first time I heard Pie Jesu. A young choirboy sang it and lifted all hearts to the sun.
Sometimes I wonder if love may best be found when we can allow the child within us to believe and trust and allow our openness.
You are so right Annaliese. My daughter and I heard this angelic voice on Great Perfomances for PBS as this youtube video. She immediately ordered the CD with a birthday amazon gift card, before it was released. So inspiring!
"the lies / that the smallness of ourselves tells us"

Oh, that's very good!
Hi Pilgrim good to see you! Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers!
India, it is passion flower in English, Jhumkolata in Bengali :) your rendition is beautiful. Just as you have Christian symbolism around the flower, the Hindus too believe the whorls and parts of the flower represent the shankh (the conch shell), chakra(the blue ring inside represents that), gada (a golden mace, signifying brute power necessary to keep order in the finite world, occasionally), padma (the lotus, signifying perfection and divine beauty bec it is a beautiful thing born of the mud, considered to be ugly) - the four things in Vishnu's hands :)
Rolling: Thank you for the fascinating symbolism from your Country! I have to say India is so exotic in my mind and the people some of the most beautiful!
A lot to think about here, as always. Thank you.
