FUCK! I just spent an hour writing up my re-cap of the past decade and, thanks to my ADD fingers, I lost it. All of it. (Grrr.) So, here I go in hopes of trying to recreate the last 60 minutes of my life.

Many of my friends are wishing 2009 a fond adieu, with sentiments of "don't let the door hit your ass on the way out!" One of them put out the question, "What do you want to throw away from 2009?" My response?
Even though I told myself I wasn't going to do a year-end summation, here I am. As we begin a new decade, I really do have to turn to the past to see how far I have come. (Sometimes only the trees are seen, and not the forest, so I guess this looking back is a good thing.)
There have been some high high's and some low low's in the past decade. Since the turn of the millennium I have:
- Found, lost, found, lost, and found ... again and again. And again
- Left my chosen home to travel the US, and then some
- Given up the loathing I had for my hometown. Oddly enough, I also found that I loved it
- Lost too many friends and loved ones
- Realized that living in grief, and cold, is not the same as celebrating life
- Seen relationships fall apart and also saw some fantastic new beginnings
- Looked long and hard into the mirror, and realized that the person looking back at me is pretty damn awesome
- Re-found my many voices via writing and photography. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU OS. Thank you for being a wonderfully supportive and dynamic community. Your words and images have pushed, and are pushing, me to be the best I can be. Even if I don't share it with y'all

No family gathering is complete without one generation telling embarassing stories of the younger ones.

And no matter how much fun you are having, everyone hits a wall.

No matter how great or crappy your year, or decade, was, sometimes you just have to spit on the past. (The Llama says, "HOCKTOOEY!")

The sun has set on 2009. All we can do now is get a good nights rest. And then? Wake up tomorrow and embrace the new day.
2010? I am happy to meet you, and see what you have to offer. Don't let us down, 'kay?

I like your spunk, your style, and the way you're pushing the accelerator and hugging the curves. I like the way you look at things, from various angles, in your writing and in your photography.
In all, and in summation, I say . . . glad you're here, and Happy New Year!
Brian - right? Thank you, for always reading, and commenting. I do feel, and appreciate, it.
Janie - hrmph. Yes, yes you do. ;) Grab a cuppa (of your choice) and be prepared to read a lot of rambling. A LOT.
Goodbye to yesterday. Hello to tomorrow.

Happy New Year, Anni.
Spudsy - llamas make everything better.
Femme - I know, right? I walked around my house for a few minutes berating myself for not typing in Word first (like I normally do).
Mypsyche - hopefully not just what we want, but what we need.
Cathy - they are sneakily cleaver blokes, no?

Debbs - yes! We were at the Berkeley pier. I used to live just down the street off of Ashby. It was nice going back to the old stomping grounds.
Boan - yes. I LOVE the embarrassing stories.
Odette - t'anks. Hope all is well with you and the wee one!
Amen to that!
