Bio
I'm just ... me. And this quote, from John le Carre, really resonates with me: "Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad: whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has ever seen."

Just 'cuz

Rate: 16 Flag

I want to laugh.
Unabashedly.
(Just 'cuz I amuse myself.)

("Don't smirk at me like that", I think.)

I want to smile.
For no reason.
(Just 'cuz it amuses others.)

("Don't laugh at me like that", I think.)

I want to sing.
Loudly, and off key.
(Just 'cuz I want to.)

("Don't shake your head at me like that", I think.)

I want to dance.
Joyfully, and fully.
(Just 'cuz when I do so, I am home.)

("Don't point at me like that", I think.)

I want to write.
Openly, and honestly.
(Just 'cuz when I am raw, so are you.)

("Don't glare at me like that", I think.)

I want to take pictures.
To show the beauty.
(Just 'cuz I want to share how I see the world.)

("Don't cock your head to the side like that", I think.)

I want to love.
Unconditionally.
(Just 'cuz I need to.)

("Don't be afraid", I pray.)

And?

I want to live.
My life.
(My way.)

(Just 'cuz ... ?)

... we all should.

(What can I say? I am embracing my inner "dog" right now. Go on. Wag your tail. Shake your butt. Slobber over the ones you love. Live in the moment. Why? Just 'cuz.)

I mean, why not?

Slobber over the ones you love. Always good advice.
James Taylor's dog wrote a song about it: "Slobber the People You Love With Love."

Just 'cuz you wrote this, you made my day. (Don't look at me like that). Nice to see you back!
Work has eaten my brain, so I haven't had a chance to log on to respond. Speaking of responding ...

... aw! I love youse guys!

(And Con? I hate you. I will now have James Taylor running through my head for a while. Which, really? Isn't all that bad.)
Great work and a grand post.
Rated.
Thanks Scylla. (And I must say, anytime I read or hear "grand", I flash back to my Irish and UK friends.)
I want a sampler, framed, with this:

"(What can I say? I am embracing my inner "dog" right now. Go on. Wag your tail. Shake your butt. Slobber over the ones you love. Live in the moment. Why? Just 'cuz.)

I mean, why not? "

I can't stop smiling at this. And the dog is quite fetching. As it were.
Thanks to Greg Correll, I found this!

I love the part about acting like a dog. I sometimes feel like that--I have two cats, but I strongly suspect I am a Pug in human skin. I have s smushed-in face and a curly tail and I just want the world to love me, no matter how ugly I may be to most of it.

Greg - thank you. If I still had my cross-stitching paraphernalia I would whip one up for you.

Kat - I'm learning how to act like a dog, after a life-long stint as a cat. And pugs are one of the cutest, and most maligned, of the small dog breed. So wag away. Wag!
Found this from your own comments on this post. Love it. Have you done an inner cat one, too? Close my eyes, switch my tail, turn my back 'cause I know you're watching me?
