after I posted my hummingbird tale ( we do get breaks between sessions) the Clinical Manager came in asking me to keep an eye out for one of our out patients who was cut from medical assistance without notice in our Republican state Governments balancing of the budget on the backs of the poor who apparantly do not give enough. These cuts are being done without prior notice and are found out only when service is sought serving the double act of saving payments during appeals, discouraging services, and continuing the crusade to disenfranchise those not worthy by increasing fear of government.
This man has chronic schizophrenia, lives with his aged Mother, and works deligently at work service jobs at the center placing him far below means of living. He constantly seeks other jobs but his troubled affect, need to yell back at voices, does not entice employers to take a chance. His main pleasure is singing in his church choir. his great luxury was a friend egg sandwich he treats himself to when he comes for biweekly blood work which he now has no coverage for.
The Republicans have also taken the funds from the emergency assistance program which is the only money many who have been hit by catastrophe receive- politically more pallitable than raising taxes and every penny counts toward protecting their corporate overlords. The casemanagers for the unfortunates were told they would be fired if they suggest that those effected contact their legislators.
The republican party has made it clear that these practices are the norm, that the poor are not carrying their share, that they do not deserve support or even notice. I admit they are not hiding their plans nor their disdain for the unfortunate so let me be as plain and honest in my disdain: If you want to piss on the poor you will cause them less suffering by actually pissing on them than you will by voting Republican this fall. It has come to that.
