Bio
"Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita," I find myself still asking some of the same questions I did when I was just a punk kid. The Big Things confuse me. Fortunately, though, many little things delight and amuse me, and some Big Things--my wife, our kids, our bird and bunny visitors, food, baseball--make me very, very happy. In my pilgrimage, I try to be guided by the wisdom of dear old Auntie Mame: "Life is a banquet!"

Like Spanglish,

we unite different bloods, different visions,

different planets?

Like Spanglish,

we adapt, one to the other, yoking yolk and white,

a tasty tortilla.

Like Spanglish,

we amalgamate, we mate, we create new structures,

fulanos that teach.

Like Spanglish,

we busc together, searching for answers, knowing

we found at least one.

Like Spanglish,

no bulchiteate, corazón, we swing together

and stroke a honrón.

Like Spanglish,

we speak as one; though tracing different paths, we utter

joint oraciones.

Very sweet and romantic; beautiful.
Kisses,
Marcela
Beatuiful and so very true!
Unbreakable: Welcome, and thank you!

Marcela: Besitos y abrazos a usted.

Torman: Thank you, also!
Great stuff. I can't write poetry in one language let alone two. You convey some beautiful thoughts.
Thank you, Pen. This one called for blended language.
Just lovely...I've not written in Spanglish or Spanish for a very long time. It is nice to be reminded how nice it sounds. Every read Neruda in Spanish? Robert Bly got me hooked with his (Bly's) English translations but there is nothing like the Spanish of it.
awwwwwwwwwwww

You're such a romantic!
Patie: Yes, I've read Neruda, though 'twas a long, long time ago. I love the sounds of Spanish verse.

waking: shucks, that's why they call it a Romance language, isn't it?
Verdad y muy bonita.
Love this - I can totally hear it!
I love this poem. I adore mixed language poetry, song, and film. This is truly beautiful. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Gwendolyn. I guess it's the verbal equivalent of mixed media!
Superbly done, Pilgrim.

"yoking yolk and white" great play on words.
Yes ~ All the sounds of the moment of mezcla are so satisfying...the bat and the ball, the glove and the ball, the spikes and the dirt, the foot and the base, the wisp of heat as the seams cross skin on their way toward glory or not...and then the words themselves, with hearts and histories and harmonia within them. Bien chevere, AHP!
