We're keeping tabs on this closely in our house because the husband (Your Norwegian Uncle) is from Hatton, ND. He was born in Mandan, which is apparently flooded now. His folks are safe from the water because they are too far away from the river. Fargo isn't, though, and it's the closest "big city" to their farm. Grand Forks, which was devistated by flood some years back, probably isn't out of the woods either because the Red River flows north. Their farm is closer to Grand Forks.
The photographs are worth taking a look, especially the photos showing the mixture of ice, snow, and flood waters surrounding the houses. They go well beyond the voyeuristic aspect of disaster pictures.
