Bio
Early Childhood: Green meadows and blue sky... clouds are passing by. It is summer, beautiful, hot summer. We children lie in the grass looking into the endless sky, wondering about the clouds... whether they are moving... or we children...watching them. It is summer. Quiet solitude... before the storm breakes loose changing everything that had been giving meaning so far...

Freiburg is celebrating a new concept of an old tradition.
I'm a bit confused. Are you in Germany or Canada?

Cool-looking new facility.
Toritto, although it was Shabbat, the whole congregation engaged in this celebration together with the many guests.
Thank you for coming by.
Kosher,
for the Kiddush,40 people had been invited to participate. Many more would have liked to attend.
A cantor from Cologne has performed the service, and afterwards,he also sang during Kiddush.
I loved the kosher food including wine.

I have lived in Canada and am preparing for my next visit.
Correction:
Invited was everyone, but for the Kiddush,an advance notification was necessary. For logistic reasons, the limit was 40 guests.
It seems you had a very wonderful experience with the Jewish community there. I've attended shabbat services in some very out-of-the-way places, but I would love to go to Germany again to see this with my own eyes, and also Poland where I have read about a strong Jewish cultural renaissance taking place.
O.J.
Yes,it has been very special indeed. The fascinating thing is that the atmosphere was so totally relaxed, and the Jewish members were very kind and helpful.
In the hall where Kiddush took place, the guests were placed at a long row of tables, and the members were sitting in a semicircle so as to embrace every newcomer. There has been an immense feeling of protection coming from the members. For me it was especially joyful to experience that the Jewish children were left in peace. For them it had been unusually long a Shabbat/Kiddush.
Freiburg is /has been very open in regard to Judaism. At the PH(Paedagogische Hochschule)there is a supplementary course on Jiddish songs and Klezmer.
As to Poland:I don't know anything about a Jewish renaissance;what I do know is that there is a lot of antisemitism and has always been.

Nice! Good to bring this to our attention.

Lovely news, Heidi. progress always speaks best through cultural means. Thank you for sharing your news here.
R
Jonathan,thank you.The Rabbi/Cantor reminded me of you.
A strong man,I believe.
PW yes you are right .Culture does a lot when other means have failed.
Thank you for commenting.
Thank you for sharing this. Sounds like a nice event.
Thanks,Sheila.Yes,it has been very impressive and something worthwhile to remember.
I have been in the Jewish community last week and yesterday night to the premiere of the composition for the 25th anniversary.
It is amazing how the Jewish community handles church/community/spiritual life.
I felt very much protected and accepted, welcomed. It was so different to what I have experienced in my life,in different denominations.I am beginning to believe that Judaism might be experiencing a revival and renaissance.
The composer was so lovely,easy-going,happy,joyful and humble. One of the tree performers has had an accident and could not come.Instead a member of the Freiburg Orchestra had been hired. The composition was modern and extremely difficult to play. The guest player did an excellent job.

I have been to different events last week and last night I attended the premiere of Gilead Mishory's composition. The composer was so lovely,easy-going,happy,joyful and humble.
One of the artists had been injured and could not come.Instead,a member(Cellist)of the Freiburg ?Orchestra had been hired. The composition was a modern piece and extremely difficult to play.
All three artists delivered a performance of highest niveau ,and the Cellist did an excellent job in highly advanced professional play,as he did not have much time to get familiar with this composition.
