When Ron had stated about spanking Andrew, I was furious! I wondered where that thought came from. I knew Andrew would not do it again, after speaking with him about it. I had no intention of spanking him, because I had done the same thing myself. I remembered wondering what was inside my diaper, as I became aware of body functions. After decorating the sheets in my crib, I never did it again. I did not like smelling that stuff on my hands and remembered trying to wipe it off.
Ron's idea about spanking a child for messing with his bowel movement was actually an accepted form of discipline. I had discussed this incident with a few military wives and they would have spanked their child. They believed their child should have known better. After all, how does a child learn unless they are punished? I did not believe a child should be punished for being curious.
About two weeks after the smelly picture incident, Andrew developed a strange rash on his upper body. Fortunately, it was on a Saturday and I was not providing childcare servies. Andrew had roseola and was given medication to take. Recently, there has been an inquiry regarding children having autism related to a reaction from live-virus vaccines. In documented cases, children showing regressive signs of having autism before the age of three had a viral illness, such as roseola, rotavirus or an unnamed flu less than four months after receiving the MMR and the TBTine.
I did not see signs of Andrew having autism, until after he was three years old. When he was two years old and began preschool, Andrew was described as being the brightest student in his class.
I will post again on Tuesday.
