Besides having difficulty with gross motor skills, Andrew had problems with holding a pencil and tying his shoes. Andrew spent most of his time watching the other children play, explore for bugs or simply daydream.
When Andrew was forced to participate, he would growl at or spit on the person ordering him to do a specific activity. Since he was being put in the spotlight, some of the other children began to torment him. No one wanted him on their relay team.
One day he was so overwhelmed he fell on the gym floor and refused to get up. He mentioned about wanting to kill himself. Unfortunately, the school counselor saw her opportunity to make a name for herself and alerted the school principal. This incident took place in the morning. I was not told about it until the end of the school day.
