During the time period when Andrew was taking swimming lessons, he also took piano lessons. The swimming would improve his gross motor skills, while the piano was for fine motor skills development.
Since Andrew had sensitive hearing, it was difficult for him to sit in the same room with other students practicing on the piano. I could not afford private lessons for Andrew, since his two sisters were taking piano lessons with him at the local recreational center. At first, the class only had my three children participating. Eventually, more children began signing up for classes. Lisa was able to move ahead, since she showed signs of being gifted. When this happened, Andrew did not want his younger sister, Kim, to do better than him. He began to practice on the old piano I had purchased for them. Kim had difficulty handling the lessons and Andrew was rather pleased with himself for doing better than her.
