I'll tell you the truth: Not very many things grossly infuriate me.
But one thing does. It angers me down to the core.
Earlier this week, I was watching old clips of Ellen Degeneres on Youtube (since I'm never home to watch it on TV). I saw a clip of her address to the fact that Sarah Palin was in favour of a federal ban on gay marriage. Underneath it, there was this comment:
"we will NEVER allow you faggots to pervert the sanctity of marriage!!!!! faggots are disgusting and have no place in my Country!!!!"
This was posted by a user with the name of "warbound06".
If I could fully express my anger and disgust in a reply to him, I would have. But Youtube doesn't allow me to physically slap him across his filthy mouth.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING make me more agree than truly hateful homophobia.
I posted a blog once about gay people not being allowed to donate blood. In that one, I didn't give you the full extent of my extreme hatred of homophobia. But I can't hold back that much longer.
Too many people are putting a religious stamp on government issues and a government stamp of issues that should have no government control whatsoever! I don't mind religion at all. What you believe is what you believe. But I have ZERO tolerance for plain ignorance.
For one, religion shouldn't have an influence on government anymore. In the past that was understandable when pretty much everyone was Catholic or Jewish or Presbyterian or belonged to some sort of church and had somewhat similar beliefs (mostly. I dont want to generalize here). But times have changed and our ways of thinking need to change too.
There should also be ZERO governmental issues with who wants to marry who. I live in Canada, and gay marriage is "permitted," but there should be no permission involved in the first place! People should be allowed to marry who they love, and that's that.
People are thinking marriage is all about religion and legality. It's not. Marriage is about LOVE. L-O-V-E. Plain and simple. There SHOULD be no two ways about it.
The way I see it is, you don't HAVE to like it. If you're religion is against it or if you yourself are against it, it just doesn't apply to you! If you don't approve of gay marriage then don't marry a member of the same sex! You don't have to wag your finger in other peoples business and discriminate against something that has NOTHING to do with you!
It's kind of like Sunday shopping. In my home province, Sunday shopping was prohibited except for gas stations and corner stores. It was influenced by decades of over-controlling religious provincial leaders. Finally, several years ago it was voted against and the ban was dropped. The thing is, if you don't WANT to shop on Sunday, DON'T GO TO THE MALL! It's not much to wrap your head around!
I applaud California for dropping the ban on gay marriage last year. I can't remember what other states have done the same (if any) but I do remember seeing that California had in the paper. But I still stand by the fact that there shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.
In the States you can still have "domestic partnership" if you're gay or lesbian. That doesn't do it for me. Ellen Degeneres had an understandable way of describing it. She said it felt like somebody saying, "You can sit THERE, you just can't sit THERE."
I really think that homophobia in general has to stop. You can believe whatever you like, but you don't have to hurt, insult and discriminate against something that you don't approve of (except for, of course, rapists and that sort of thing). People have the birthright to love whomever they wish and there should be no conflict in marriage and partnership whatsoever!
Marriage should not be a government issue. They should leave it up to the individual and stop butting into peoples love!
I know there's many people out there who disagree with me. I know that if I were to broadcast this to everyone in the world, millions upon billions of people would say I'm stupid, I'm naive and I don't know what I'm talking about. But that's fine. Because this is what I truly believe. This hatred and discrimination NEEDS to end. Until it does, the world will be that much less loving.
Feel free to voice your opinion. I accept any comment, whether in agreement or not. Your opinion is your opinion, as mine is mine.
Yours truly,

PS.
While were on that topic, did you know bats have the highest homosexuality rate of all animals? Huh.
