CNN on wikileak Iraq atrocity: Too Bad, Shit Happens.

Rate: 1 Flag

I am sure most people have seen or heard about the wikileaks.org leaked video of American soldiers shooting unarmed Reuters reporters... then firing on a good Samaritan and his family who stopped to help.  CNN reported on it too.  Their report is worth a read for its exceptional matter-of-factness, and convenient omission of some crucial facts.

Here are some choice quotes from the article and my translation/supplement.

CNN:  "A total of 139 journalists, nearly 120 of them Iraqis, have been killed during the 7-year-old war, according to the Committee To Protect Journalists. Reuters said the deaths of Chmagh and Noor-Eldeen "were tragic and emblematic of the extreme dangers that exist in covering war zones.""

Banterrific:  Oops.. silly war correspondents!  You shouldnt be out on the streets with you cameras in war time!  dont you know how dangerous that is?  If you get cut apart by blood-thirsty Americans shooting anything that moves on the ground its YOUR fault!

CNN:  "This footage is deeply disturbing and reminds us of what journalists in war zones undergo to bring us the news," Joel Simon, the group's executive director, said in a written statement. "

Banterrific:  Again.. You dumb journalists, how dare you think you can just walk around with your camera while murderers are in the sky circling you!

CNN: "One of two photojournalists killed in a 2007 attack by a U.S. helicopter gunship in Iraq was being rescued when the gunship's crew fired on the van to which he was being carried, according to footage posted online Monday.

Reuters photographer Saeed Cmagh survived an initial strafing by the Apache gunship's 30 mm machine gun, but he apparently died when the gunship opened fire on people attempting to get him off the sidewalk where he lay, according to the video"

Banterrific:  Some bloodthirsty pieces of human detritis in a soldier uniform actually fired on a good Samaritan... and his 2 kids... all unarmed.. stopping to help!  And here's what he said while he was doing it:  "Oh yeah, look at those dead bastards," He then begged for permission to open fire on the van and its occupants, even though they are clearly  helping the wounded: "Come on, let us shoot!"   THIS IS THE STORY CNN!  What is being done on a regular basis in Iraq IN OUR NAME.

CNN completely missed (missed implies accidently... lets say avoided) the obvious story line and basically said... Yep, its tough being a war correspondent.  Why?  Why would they do this?  Anyone who sees this video and isn't a government shill, a warmonger/propagandist, or clinically insane can see the story that CNN missed.  How can you win hearts and minds when you do this on a regular basis?  How can our army operate with such disregard for human life specifically civilian life and hope to change attitudes and make any lasting change in the region?  How can they NOT hate us when this type of horrific behavior is normal, and sanctioned, and no one found anything wrong with what these soldiers did?  Why would CNN not even touch on this story?   Why, because they are shilling propoganda, they are part of the war machine, they are an extension fo the military-industrial complex.  They are pathetic and they are NOT journalists.

ain't reality grand? if you didn't know before, you live in a society ruled by psychopaths who regard war as a tool of personal advancement. not the actual shooters, of course, but the politicians who are 'tough on terrorism.' the actual shooters are just psychopaths who graduated from web games to real killing, and ain't it fun!

don't get your knickers in a knot, nothing you can do about it. human society has often been like this, just think of the roman arena or timur's pyramid of skulls, or pol pot cleansing cambodian minds.

yes, the troops are murderers. yes, their leaders worse. yes, the american people as a whole are at that level of moral evolution. this the nation was created by ethnic cleansing and african slavery, that brought free fire zones and mylai into military history, with pictures of children running down the road, on fire from napalm, but saved from communism. nothing american government or soldiers do can surprise me anymore.

what does bemuse me, though, is the capacity of americans to look in a mirror, and smile.
CNN just posted a new story. maybe they thought their propoganda was a tad too obvious.

But I thought CNN was part of the liberal media. That's what Fox News tells me.

The liberal media is the biggest lie. They are all beholden to their corporate interests and since war is about money, they all get on board. CNNis awful and I'm tired of people telling me MSNBC is liberal. They are just as big a warmongering network as the rest of them.

The sad thing is, most people will view this video, shrug and think, war is hell, those stupid Arabs shouldn't have messed with us and then flip the station back over to 'Dancing with the Washed Up Stars.'
