Why I hate people who hate Mother's Day, like Anne Lamott

Rate: 3 Flag

Today Anne Lamott had this column garbage on the front page of Salon:

Why I hate Mother's Day

"It celebrates the great lie about women: That those with children are more important than those without"

No, Anne Lamott, you petty moron, it celebrates mothers because they deserve to be celebrated.   My mother and my wife like millions of other women in the world are the unsung heros of humanity.  My apologies if mother's day doesnt include all women.  I appreciate greatly the childless women in my life, I love them dearly, however they are not mothers, so on MOTHER'S DAY, they are not singled out and thanked for something they haven't done.

"Every woman's path is difficult"  What a moronic oversimplication and misunderstanding of the meaning of the day.  This woman writes for a living?

So true, every woman's path is difficult.  That is why you would advocate changing Mother's day to Women's Day.

Every Man's path is difficult too.  So I think Father's day should be changed to Men's Day.

As for Columbus Day... Every explorer's path is difficult, so I think it should be changed to Explorer's day.

As for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.... Every civil right's leader's path is difficult so I think MLK day should be changed to Civil Right's leader's day...

As for Easter, Every Messiah's martyrdom is challenging, so I think Easter should be changed to "Worship your favorite religious figure day"

etc. etc.  I could go on and on about what a fucking moron Anne Lamott, writer for Salon.com is, but I will refrain and call my mother to thank her for all that she did for me, and then kiss my wife and thank her for all she has done for our child.  Fuck you Anne Lamott!!

I love the idea of worship your favorite religious figure day!
I got kicked out of the PTA (back in the day) for saying I did not want to spend PTA money on a Christmas tree. The powers-that-were said they thought it was the PTA's responsibility to make sure that all children got to see a Christmas tree. I thought that was the responsibility of those parents who want their children to see one.
If we had a general day to honor your favorite religious figure, we could have had a pantheon. I'm a big fan of Medea. (She did NOT kill her children, Creon did.)
I have loved the majority of Anne's writing and books but her later years have not been kind to her. She has grown bitter & petty & righteous. I still read her books but her columns are atrocious.
