Obama's hit list: US citizens marked for assassination

Rate: 16 Flag

  change?

With all of the fuss over the SOTU, this should not be lost in the shuffle:

Obama has hit lists of US citizens that he has authorized the CIA and US military to assassinate.

How can this be justified?

What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Glenn Greenwald's post, Presidential assassinations of U.S. citizens, is impeccibly sourced.  This is not rumor.  Obama wants to murder American citizens in their beds.

To further remind you that Obama may talk a good game, but he is still a war criminal just as bad as Bush was if not worse, here is just the past seven days worth of updates to the "How does all that Hope and Change taste now?" post:

Update January 22, 2010:

Obama quietly continues to defend Bush's terror policies

and

The Obama administration has decided nearly 50 Guantanamo captives will still be denied trials. In other words, when the government has no legal case against you, it can skip the trial and permanently imprison you. Is this Alice in Wonderland?

Update January 25, 2010:

ACLU report on Obama's civil liberties policies: America Unrestored. Obama is still spying on Americans, Habeas Corpus remains repealed and he is still holding prisoners without trial -- Conclusion: the situation is little changed from Bush.

Update January 27, 2010:

Obama authorizes assassinating US citizens.  No judge, no jury.  Just Obama compiling hit lists.

and

Yet again, Obama defends Bush's policy that allows the FBI to monitor your phone records for no reason whatsoever.

and

CIA black sites amount to crime against humanity - UN human rights experts warned on Wednesday that "widespread and systematic" secret detention of terror suspects could pave the way for charges of crimes against humanity.

and

Time to update Whitehouse.gov: "The President has vowed that the health reform process will be different in his Administration – an open, inclusive, and transparent process where all ideas are encouraged and all parties work together to find a solution to the health care crisis."

and

The US & Obama's new war: "U.S. military teams, intelligence deeply involved in aiding Yemen on strikes"

Remember:

The truth is that every morning war is declared afresh. And the men who wish to continue it are as guilty as the men who began it, more guilty perhaps, for the latter perhaps did not foresee all its horrors. -Marcel Proust, novelist (1871-1922)

Both Australians that were detained in Gitmo turned out to be innocent of any terrorist activities, though one did plead guilty to providing "material support" to terrorist organisation.

Obama's willingness to violate international law surprises me. I expected more from him, which is silly. He's just another dodgy politician, obviously.
But he gives such nice speeches so full of hope and the promise of change!
Boo! Cynicism is dead, like your brain.
Firefly, your comment's complete lack of content or thought about the ramifications of the president blatantly violating the law in this manner shows who is brain dead here.

These are real people he is killing.
What a fascinating, well thought-out argument, Marie.
Notice how Firefly created the profile to comment on this blog?

I wonder what OS regular has created a new persona as an Obamabot?
I hadn't seen this, and I'm not surprised. Thanks for posting, BBE.
I am finally waking up to the sad reality you have been pointing out so brilliantly. I listened to a speech on NPR on Tuesday - I just tried to find it - can't remember the guys name, but it was brilliant and I thought of you while listening.
(I know, that's very informative and helpful!)
The big 'O'is no better than Bush and more dangerous. Now we have full body scans at airports. They scan our fingerprints, irises, every body part. All for security. Now we are safe from WHO?
Some people actually believe salvation lies outside the truth, that we can somehow lie our way to paradise.
Thanks for the post BBE.
Lordy! Am I in trouble for reading this??? Wouldn't O be the slightest bit concerned that somebody might leak his "list" to, oh, Sy Hersch? Or Fox? Or YOU?? Uh oh! Run, guys! Run for the hills!!!
As I wrote yesterday, the use of drones to killed alleged terrorists is one thing, but to kill their entire family in the process is premeditated murder!
So if the guys who took over the 9/11 airplanes had been Americans, it would have been OK, huh? Because we wouldn't want to prosecute any Americans.

I am blown away (if you'll pardon my saying it that way) by how gullible people are. If it's on the internet it MUST be true.
Trouble comin' every day.
If ClarkK had bothered to read Greenwald's post, he would know that several of the names are in the public domain already and have been published in the Washington Post. A classic case of read the fucking article before commenting or you look like a dumb shit.

Chris Brown so badly wants to believe in the Obamassiah that the Washington Post is no longer a credible source. Perhaps Brown should recall that the Oklahoma City bombers were prosecuted and Tim McVay was only executed after being found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He should also recall that the alleged 20th hijacker received a trial in Virginia and was found guilty and is now imprisoned. You come across as very uninformed and another complete dumb shit.

"Alleged" is an important distinction here. Gitmo was full of "alleged" terrorists who turned out to be innocent men who were kidnapped for bounties by their neighbors. As Greenwald points out, our government has a very bad track record identifying terrorists and is wrong more often than right. Look at the example of the two Australians Natalie reminds us of.

There is no wiggle room. Summary execution is illegal. Obama is committing a crime with this assassination list just like Bush before him. Wake up.
That is not a very good idea about U.S. citizens. Thanks for the link. In that case, capture and try.
Thanks for the post...that's all are thruth
you must to give him a opportunity....he`s a good man...

The levee's busted, badness comin' through."

Well, BBE…I guess we have to refuse to re-elect Obama and let the Republicans win the next election.

Their candidate will be vetted and approved by the tea party…and I am sure that person will be much, much more trustworthy and honorable than Obama.

We should, in fact, have a much better, less warlike, world when that happens!!!!

Thanks for calling this to our attention.
Honorable! What would you know from honor, idiot?

Do you think a republican't will take the two wars your lord and savior, oabama, inherited, and turned into SEVEN, will do him one better and turn them into fourteen?

you're a totally hopeless psychotic case.

BTW - you DO realize your responding to someone who hasn't posted in nearly two years don't you?

Nah, you're probably oblivious to that, too
