Earlier this evening, Accenture, the global consulting firm, announced they were ending their advertising relation with Tiger Woods. According to their web site, Accenture claims that: "given the circumstances of the last two weeks ... the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising." But considering Accenture's own tainted history, wouldn't Tiger Woods current scandal be a perfect representation for that company?
Here is a refresher for the citizens of the United States of Amnesia:
- Accenture, or as it was known then Andersen Consulting, was heavily involved in the Enron scandal back in 2001 and was forced to change its name as a result.
- Accenture was heavily critisized for moving jobs outside the US while taking advantage of incorporation in Tax havens, first in Bahamas, then in Ireland (despite the fact of the company's roots are in Chicago.
- In September of 2007, Accenture was implicated in a high profile case involving the loss of sensitive data affecting millions of US citizens. Data that included social security numbers and other relevant information on citizens of Ohio and Connecticut.
