I recommend Caroline’s post on personal aesthetics and culture.  18 years ago a friend of mine, Hannah, decided to make a few dramatic choices, and she has stuck with them----as an art form.

 For me, my own pit hair is so damn irritating---it gets removed for comfort, without any regard for aesthetics.   Past 40, my scalp follicles decided hair was unnecessary down the center of my head---and I’ve gone with that, regardless of the Rogaine ads.  

I applaud all personal grooming choices, whatever they look like---and I envy the beards of Walt Whitman and most 19^th century gentleman.
