A weird story just got weirder.
Let's face it - the Adam James/Craig James vs. Mike Leach story is weird. Nutty. Enough egg to go on everyone's faces, from the Texas Tech administration to whatever ESPN producer decided it would be OK to give Craig James a bully pulpit.
Bad juju all the way around.
But then comes word that Craig James has loftier career aspirations than ESPN analyst.
He wants to run for Senate, possibly for Kay Bailey Hutchison's seat if she ever gives it up. And, apparently, his name is being seriously considered for candidacy.
Were the past two weeks some kind of "Dallas" dream sequence, ala Bobby in the shower? If not, I have a good question for the Republicans:
Did you actually intend to keep this seat?
And for Craig James:
Seriously? Really? You think you can piss off, I don't know, one-third of the state easily and make the other two-thirds think you're a douche canoe and still garner enough votes to win a Senate seat, much less make it out of the primary?
You are more delusional than previously indicated.
But it's all really an exercise in arm flappery and academics anyway - Hutchison's gross miscalculations regarding her voter base will mean she'll keep that Senate seat. The chances of her stepping down before the gubernatorial primary are about as good as Adam James wandering through a Lubbock Wal-Mart unscathed.
But that, my friends, is another blog post.
