On FaceBook I don't: chat; play farmville; quiz myself or post photos because they would appear to be a time loop. Long correspondences with lost aquaintances are beyond my chatting skills. Though the honesty boxes of certain "friends" beckon, I refrain. Moreover, I judge people who post constant updates and pictures.
What I do is stare at the newsfeed for about two minutes a day, while I judge friends posts as mundane, cackle at entire pages of farmville generated by one user, and generally sit on my throne of non participation. That is the worst kind of frivolity: Seeking out others' behavior to mock it, and I'll have no more of it.
I am not an active Facebook user. I never sent any mean messages, or even posted a photo, but I did not like the daily excuse to ridicule people I barely know. Moreover, there were photos in which I was obviously drunk, and I proclaimed my love for beer. In the long run, I'd rather contact my friends by phone, and not risk a co worker or boss seeing something potentially embarassing.
It's been fake, Facebook. Goodbye.
