fuzzy therapy

Rate: 7 Flag

A few months ago, I wrote about a little boy who was traumatized by the death of his family's dog.  They tried therapy, but it wasn't making a significant difference.  The little guy was still depressed.

Thanks to those who offered  information about therapists.  My friends appreciated those leads.

Recently, the parents were finally ready to adopt a new dog.  They started looking at listings for available dogs through local shelters and rescue organizations.  They found a young standard poodle and ended up adopting him.  The little guy is thrilled to have a new fuzzy pal.  He's acting more like himself again.

I'm happy that the family has finally gotten past the months of depression.  It's wonderful to see them enjoying life again.

I am so happy for that boy. I do not have a pet, but I have so many friends who have been comforted and healed by theirs. ~r
I glad everything worked out!
I was really worried about all of them for a while, so I was relieved to hear about their success with the new dog. Today I was thinking about them and realized I hadn't posted an update yet.
oh very cool. My dad just got a new baby (well, a 5 yo rescue, but still his baby) as well. Some people just function better with someone to love unconditionally.
Sometimes having that fuzzbaby makes all the difference. Nice to hear that your dad got a new pal.
I'm glad they've moved on...a think a child can learn valuable lessons in grief and love with a pet. They have such wonderful spirits, those creatures, they offer such love...
I agree. When I was a kid, I learned so many lessons about life, love and death from our various pets. They were valuable growing experience, and we had so many wonderful moments. I'm glad that my friends' little boy is getting the chance to have such experiences, even if they are difficult at times.
There's nothing like the unconditional love of a pet to make one feel happy and whole! Thanks for the update :)
I agree. Sometimes fuzzy therapy is the best kind of therapy.
