What to do if you support Ron Paul and intend to go to Caucu
The Ron Paul campaign has put out requirements for Caucus attendees…
1. Shave
2. Hide tattoos
3. Dress well
No word about what political thoughts you should have.
May be this is the time for the other candidates to come out for Tattooed folk. Or bearded guys in jeans.

the links involved AND to most of their links. What you will

What has happened to our united national character.
A long time ago, in my youth in Connecticut, I remember a really different country than we have now. I didn't learn about the Federal Government through C-Span, which, of course, didn't exist back then, but through the Bristol Press and the Hartford Courant (and, occasionally, the Waterbury Republica… Read full post »
What do you know about Food Disparagement Laws?
Until last night, I knew nothing about them… but as I attended the F.A.R.M. program (Food Art Revolution Media) last night it was one of the topics that Melinda and Dan Hemmelgarn discussed last night.
These laws currently exist in 13 states and do things like banning photographers… Read full post »

The Congressional Progressive Caucus vs. the Republicans’
I’ve been so tired of all the discussion of Paul Ryan’s disastrous Republican budget, and the Right-wing’s claims that no one else is making one (despite the fact that the President is working on one which he will start discussing tonight).
Well, the Congressional
Upper Big Branch Mine Tragedy was One Year Ago Today…
Here in
West Virginia we are seriously interested in reforming the coal
mining industry
– whether easing it out entirely or at least improving the
pollution of the air and water due to mining practices – but
the most important reform necessary is mine safety.… Read full post »
Defining myself politically with 65 years of changes.
On May 24th I'll be sixty five and another 1st generation Baby Boomer will be officially "Old" (though, because of our cruddy economy which stands between employment and age, I am already retired and at the mercy of Social Security... which my Congressional leadership wants to do away with).

Another C-SPAN Morning, and a very unhappy vote…
I’m watching the vote as the Republican majority votes on debate rules to defund National Public Radio. So far all Republicans are voting to cut the funds and all Democrats are voting to save the funding. If it keeps up like this, NPR has no chance.
C-SPAN is taking in… Read full post »
So what happens when Corporations control things?

Today marks 40 years since my first Directing project in NYC
On March 11, 1971, Systems Theatre (the group I originally started in Evanston, IL) did it’s first NYC production: Thomas Merton‘s ORIGINAL CHILD BOMB, which we presented at St. Clement’s Church in their downstairs theatre space.
Upstairs at St. C… Read full post »
Today begins a response by workers to the Wisconsin Senate's
Today people are returning to the Wisconsin capitol building to protest the act of the Republican Senators and the approval they have received by Scott Walker. The organization of trade unions is becoming intense and recalls of some legislators and a build up to recalling Walker (which cannot happe… Read full post »

Chris Hedges has posted quite a long article in Truthdig called This Time We’re Taking The Whole Planet With Us. It is devastating… not because it makes up a fantasy of destruction, but because it deals directly with the truth. Here are 2 excerpts, but I… Read full post »

What does it mean to take away bargaining rights from public employee’s unions? As we watch the Republicans in Wisconsin, it might be worth it to look at Indiana where, 5 years ago upon being elected, Republican Governor Mitch Daniels eliminated collective bargaining for public unions in that s… Read full post »

Obama is getting ready to put in his budget cut proposals and it looks like the folks who are going to be asked to hold their breaths and take the biggest cuts are those of us on the bottom.

I’d like to take a moment to talk with all my friends around
Quite frankly, there is not much of a choice here: if you don’t vote, you will condemn us to changes in our country that will be hard to live with and harder to overcome in the future.
For instance, Republican Senate candidates Linda McMahon in Connecticut, Rand… Read full post »
It's time to get behind Byron Dorgan...
Dorgan (D - North Dakota) is the Senator who introduced legislation, S. 260, to shut down a tax loophole that rewards U.S. companies that move U.S. manufacturing jobs overseas. The legislation would close the loophole that allows U.S. multinational companies to defer paying income taxes on prof… Read full post »

We are spending $2 Billion a week in Afghanistan. If you want to see zeros, that's $2,000,000,000.00 a week. It also means $104 Billion a year.
Meanwhile, we can't afford to keep our education budgets in functional condition. We can't reduce our National Debt. We can't bring… Read full post »
