An email arrived today ostensibly from Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement, Valerie Jarrett.
It's first two paragraphs went like this:
On Thursday, President Obama is hosting a discussion at the White House to explore every possible avenue for job creation. Small business owners, CEOs, economists, financial experts, and nonprofit groups, as well as Americans who have felt the impact of this economic crisis firsthand, will be there to share ideas.
But you don't need to be here on Thursday to participate. You can join the discussion by organizing your own jobs forum with your family, friends, and co-workers -- because these conversations can take place in living rooms and conference tables, not just arenas and convention centers.
I responded:
Ms. Jarret:
This call for community forums and a "discussion" at the White House on jobs should be an embarrassment to you and the administration.
There is nothing difficult about a jobs program. It has been done over and over in this country with decent to excellent success. Instead of continuing to throw away money on multiple wars, which is, so far, the only real jobs program going, you should take money from the generals, defense contractors and bankers--the multiple billions in bonuses you could have stopped them from having, the even larger billions in money that was supposed to go for lending and is only going into more of the risky investments that have already destroyed this counties (and the world's) economy, and create a huge program that wold pretty much eliminate unemployment and put money in people's pockets.
Stop wasting time and money. Stop pretending that you care about the regular folks. Do something, and do it now!

If more people would take the time to tell these as*holes that we DON'T approve of what they're doing, change someone might believe could, unlikely as it may seem, ensue.
