This cartoon is an example of why I am so lucky to be working with cartoonist Jim George. Look at the face of that dog, the pose. Anyone who has ever owned a puppy recognizes that look, the mix of sheer joy with being busted in the act.
Draw the Dog is in a fun, precarious, exciting and nerve-wracking place. We are clearly gathering momentum - measured in vistors and their positive feedback - but we are still stealing time from paying work, operating more on faith than any reasonable business sense.
In the midst of this, I adopted a third dog, a delightful Aussie mix puppy named Hadley. That was when my wife decided once and for all that she is married to a lunatic. To her credit, she is still here.
I have faith that the sheer joy of building and running this site will one day soon be kept company by a sustainable business model (translation for non-business types: cash money.)
Perhaps faith is a by-product of doing what you really love?
