Yes, the Bush Administration's initial proposal was an unacceptable attempt to use a crisis to seize more power. But some kind of bailout is necessary. Kaptur is correct that the US Government should assume the debt in exchange for equity, so that when Wall Street bounces back and profits again, so do the American people. But not doing the bailout at all would really be dangerous.

. . . and I know very little about Toledo and never found it appealing.
