The Irish

The Irish

The ocean sprays on jagged rocks;
moss green along the coast,
while wind blows free fast over me
and patrons of each tavern boast
of knowing dear Saint Patrick
when he blessed the emerald isle
then sent his loving people
all about the world to smile;
to share in their good fortune
from the leprechaun to clover,
from whiskey to a solemn prayer
for life and when it’s over.

Slainte. As the descendant of a coffin ship survivor -- and being married to an Irish redhead -- I concur.
