Perhaps we need to look among us
to find out why we pale
as human beings,
turning some men’s dreams
as they wail.
Our crime is judging
our neighbor and their ways;
not understanding that their lives
are mirrors of our own,
for they’re given roughly the same days
before God calls them home.
Instead we kill the innocent
and die as well for our foul deeds
instead of growing with each other
planting seeds for needs.
