"This tactic of inducing public distrust of government is not only cynical, it is schizophrenic. For people who profess to revere the Constitution, it is strange that they so caustically denigrate the very federal government that is the material expression of the principles embodied in that document."

"How does your plan for dismantling the US government differ from al-Qaeda's?"
~ Andy Borowitz
but ask yourself, how is it that the government of the usa is frequently in the hands of people like this.
could it be, that american education generates an electorate of fools?
But I blame the left for being so short-sighted as to allow this to happen.
I don't agree with Al Loomis on very much, but on this he is spot on. The electorate is an electorate of fools.
I'm with James Carville. What do we do now? PANIC!
I wouldn't go that far Al, not by a long shot. American education has its flaws, but it absolutely cannot be taken to task for the adult belief systems of those who vote for these obstructionists, or Loyal Oppositionists, as they like to call themselves.
Your main point is spot on. These candidates, and much of their base, is keen on having a minimal government with a fend-for-yourself society as the New Jerusalem.
Yeah, I know, Abrawang: WTF?
"The 17th Amendment took electing U.S. senators out of the hands of political insiders and allowed the American public to decide their representation instead. "
Frank, put cher ear a little closer to the ground. The theocrats aka T-Party have been losing ground, not gaining.
Don't forget that it takes 60 million voters to elect a US President. While they dominate the press and use their block to push a dangerous agenda, I find it hard to believe that there are 60 million people in this country who support them.
It is simplistic and short-sighted to blame the people for behaving stupidly when they are being manipulated by a vast and all powerful media with the ability to redefine the media at their whim.
This is the real enemy.
Most of the media is not playing in to the T-Party's hand, Ramonas Voices. They are giving air- and ink-time to exposé their agenda(s), not support them which is the reason for this post/list.
To say, now, 15 months away from the election, in the past tense, that 'we never had a chance' is defeatist, imo.
"I'm with James Carville. What do we do now? PANIC!"
Do not panic until it's time. It ain't time.
~ sagemerlin: Thanks for that validation on the educational system. Public schools have very strict policies prohibiting 'teaching' dogma or even political preference.
My heart hurts.
You might want to put your ear a bit closer also, BR. The loss of the far left to the Democrats is much greater than the slowdown of the tea party climb.
The left in our country has lost direction more completely than I would ever have thought possible. They suck.
Lately, what you hear from the right wing Republicans is what they will do when they win control of government. All the left talks about is whom they will blame for the loss.
You tell me who is going to win!
Your heart is in the right place...and that list of yours is spot on. But the list is validation of what I am saying...that they are planning what they will do when they control the strings.
Do you hear any Democrats or liberals doing any planning?
I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond, but after reading your predictions, I crawled into the closet, fell into a fetal position and locked the door. ;)
"While the Left was distracted by the grand debate of does President Obama suck or is he great they went about redistricting and passing voter restriction laws. This will almost guarantee that they will hold the House in 2012. Twenty-three Democrats are up for election in 2012 which means the Republicans will control the Senate. They already control the Supreme Court, the Federal District Courts, 30 Governorships and 28 state legislatures and will gain more in 2012. The Lame Left is no match for the money people. "
At this point, I'm going to hang on to the "almost" part of that scenario.
Tonight's Rewrite in my Dreams: Twenty-three Democrats are up for election in 2012 which means the Democrats will continue to control the Senate.
The conservatives control the Supreme Court for now, but President Barack Obama will be appointing two more members during his second term. The Federal District Courts will be flipped as well as a good number of the 30 Governorships and 28 state legislatures in 2012 as the teavangelicals dissolve. "
;)
"If I were younger, I would be out of this country....."
I'm with you on leaving the country, wholeheartedly.
Where ya wanna go?
They ARE planning what they'll do IF they take the White House in 2012. They're desperate. They know, that with this slate of candidates, it will be next to impossible to win without restructuring the playing field. Only, this time, what they're doing is more transparent, unlike any other election.
I'll take it a step further and say that I don't believe any of them truly think they can win. It's more like they're barkers, stirring up the base, attempting to appeal to a wide range of voters to rake in the money for the RNC.
Barkers on the Left suck. Why I do not know. Most of them gave Barack Obama about a month after inauguration day, then started ripping him to shreds. The LEFT. I don't understand it. Maybe they are closet republicans, dunno.
One dawg barks and 100 bark at the bark?

Also - does anyone really believe that, if elected, any of these small-government people would really 'dismantle' the institution they'd be ruling over? Has Perry 'dismantled' the Texas government? Nah - he's emperor, living large.
The list grows.
DOMA
Urban and Housing Development
DADT
$1 Dollar Bill - to be replaced by a gold coin.
The US Post Office - they want to privatize the whole thing.
No doubt, Abrawang, but it's never been quite this transparent and blatant, imo.
