"It was me and I sent it."--Anthony Weiner (D-NY)
You read it right here last week when I asked the question, Did Weiner Really Tweet His Weiner? I had fervently hoped it wasn't true. His old buddy Jon Stewart expressed dismay and disbelief that the congressman's "package" would be so...impressive. But all joking aside, Weiner's behavior will tarnish his image perhaps irreparably. Should it matter that he sent some pictures of his bare chest or his clothed nether region? Probably not, but then he lied to cover it up, and continued to lie emphatically for ten days.
Shortly after 4:00 pm EDT on Monday, Congressman Weiner stood up in front of a press core in NY and tearfully admitted to sending a series of lewd photographs to six different women over the course of three years--both before and after his marriage. Of course he regretted any pain he'd caused and blah, blah, blah. If he was some fresh out of college congressional intern I might have said...boys will be boys. He's a grown ass man who should have known better. Though not personally outraged by the particulars of what he did, I am deeply disappointed with his poor judgment. Regardless of what we may think about fake public outrage or frivolous scandals distracting the public from important matters of state, this press conference was a bombshell--arresting television if nothing else.
Rep.Weiner has said he will not resign. He had hoped to run for Mayor of NYC. Can he come back from this? Politicians have survived worse. It may depend on what else is out there. Apparently Andrew Breitbart has more to share. We shall see.
Pssst, bet you're wondering what the Mrs. looks like. Huma Weiner is not at all what I expected. Not sure know how he snagged this accomplished (top aide to Sec. Of State Hillary Clinton) gorgeous woman in the first place, but I don't think she'll have any problem replacing him. He might want to count his blessings and keep it in the family.

Anthony Weiner needs someone to tell him also to quit speaking. He said the other day that the photo might be him but he can’t tell because “sometimes your stuff gets manipulated”. Today he is saying it’s a “hugely regrettable mistake”, and that to re-gain the trust of his constituents he is going "to need to work hard".
He needs to stop. Comedy is a tough gig and it’s wrong in this era of low employment to be snagging the best lines away from the people who need the work.
Sit down Senator Weiner and be quiet, or at least untuck your shirt tail.

Come off it folks. There isn't a politician in the world who doesn't lie like a rug. Never has been - never will be. Since when are you all so gushy, gushy naive that you don't know this. Pretending otherwise makes YOU a liar too.
And lewd photos? Yeah, he'd have shown more in an average bathing suit.
There is something wrong with any society that routinely puts liars in public office, KNOWING THEY ARE LIARS, then pretends shock when they're found to be lying.

Skypixieo--I hear you, but I also think I have a right to be disappointed in this case. I think Weiner was an effective legislator and he will be less so now. We can afford to lose any strong voices whether the scandal makes sense or not, it has tainted his reputation.

Matt Paust and Weiner's Wiener will SHARE the Uncle award for most appropriate comments on Weiner's pecker scandal.
Frankly, although I can't put it into words, I agree. . . . this kind is behavior IS what we should expect from Progressives -- same thought processes at work . . . . same judgment . . . . same amount of personal accountability . . . . same values . . . . same foresight of the consequences . . . .
Internet love is not really love, internet sex is not sex on the internet but misguided form of fantassy. The fantassy becomes reality in terms of sexual overtures when you meet the internet stranger (in this case, it was a stranger on the net) and have one-on-one contact. This then becomes the turning point of cheating.
On a different note, but not totally unrelated to the Internet-sex-paradox, I draw the line when it does tantamount to sex. When a male or female contacts children and youth under the age of 18 for the purpose of either fantassy or sex. It does matter what actually happened during the inter-action, and the fact remains that some trace of sexual deviant activity or advances may have taken place and when that child responded to the adult, this then becomes a topic for for public outcry, and a demand that the perpetrator be held accountable and the onus in not on the child or the child's parent to prove.
