The Nebraska Version of Dirty Haiku
Pillow Fight Cat Style
Brian had always been a cat person, and he was getting tired of living alone, so of course it was time to butt-in and find him a cat. He began to receive emails from Petfinder.org of available cats in the area, on a daily basis. Brian was also partial to… Read full post »
Chicken and Rice With Dad - Updated with Recipe
I had been dating my now-husband for a while when he decided we should spend the weekend at his dad’s house, so he could show me all of his favorite sights. His mom had passed away two years before we’d met, so dad was the only parent I needed to, or… Read full post »
Lesson of the Day
It was Darling Daughter’s first year in “real” 4H (vs Jr. Clover where she couldn’t show animals) and she was preparing to show her cat Lintball at the county fair.
DD had studied her cat book,… Read full post »
She's Watching My Back
My darling daughter has learned that I have this blog, and has taken to pointing out that I don’t write about her very much. My apologies Darling Daughter! This one’s for you!!!
DD has been involved with 4H Shooting Sports for about four years now. The though… Read full post »
Sorry that this installment of “cat(s) of the week” is a little late...but my job sort of got in the way of my writing. How unfair is that?!!!
So this week, it’s a 2-for-1 deal: the clinic cats Elliot and Harley.

I Don't Love You That Much
Spring has decided it doesn’t want to come to Nebraska this year. After several record-breaking days of warmth, we’ve been back in the single digits complete with snow and ice.
I was in the kitchen this morning getting some bottles of warm water ready for the rabbits outside w… Read full post »
Lintball

Lintball is my daughter's 4H cat, and a great model for my artwork. She has perfected the skill of remaining very still as you can see above.
Sweet dreams...
It was a warm summer night. Dr. Wonderful… Read full post »
Open Call: Dark and Stormy Night
It was a dark and stormy night. The horses were already fed and put up for the night, as were the rest of the pets. The daughter and husband were away. She climbed into bed between the flannel sheets hours earlier than usual and turned out the light. Pure bliss.
When this open call came out, I really wasn’t sure what I could write about…animals and coffee were “taken” pretty darn quick.
First of all, this didn’t start as MY addiction. I married a veterinarian who has had a passion for parasites since his… Read full post »
The Hitcher
I’d been away from work for about a week due to the county fair – Darling Daughter (DD) being an active 4H member – when I heard about the cat. Working at a rural res… Read full post »
Yesterday morning, shortly after Dr. Wonderful left for the clinic, my cell phone rang - I assumed Dr. W had seen something interesting on the way to town that he wanted to share. Instead, it was Terry. She being one of my horsey friends from work, would often call on weekends,… Read full post »
Kitten of the Week
Allow me to introduce Lawrence the Cat:
This photo was taken in October shortly after I found him at the side of the road on my way home from work.
He got his name from this SNL skit: http://www.hulu.com/watch/37752/saturday-night-live-the-lawrence-welk-show… Read full post »
We're in the middle of a snow storm here in NE, so I thought I'd post some snowy images. Not from today, but seasonally accurate. Enjoy!
It's much windier today, so they all have their blankets on.

Gratuitous Cat Photo of the Day
Why we don't leave home very often...
We’ll start with cats, since they are the worst. I can’t tell you how many there are, I don’t want to know, I don’t want to count them.
The cat food “stock” container is behind the right sliding door in the utility room, the “wor… Read full post »
Gimme Some Tongue
