I do play pinohcle but due to my inability to cheat I don't win very often. Recently disabled I turned to Open Salon to re-engage my writing bug. Update, cat population now at 2. homes found for kittens. Update two add one cocker spaniel to the list and maybe just shoot me.

Why I fear the fascist nature of the GOP

Rate: 24 Flag

1.   Lies and spreading fear to the ill informed
2.   Questioning the presidents birth certificate.
3.   Repression of civil liberties in the name of security.
4.   No bid contracts for former business associates of the president and vice president.
5.   Giving wall street a trillion dollars with no accountability for it's use.
6.   Disclosing the names of CIA operatives in pique over refusing to back up false data.
7.   Encouraging talk of sedition in response to losing elections.
8.   The insinuation that the founding fathers were christians when many were not.
9.   The insinuation that they intended to create a "christian" nation when they went to great pains to avoid doing that.
10.  Wasting billions of dollars and thousands of lives on a war that had no basis in fact.
11.  Wasting the opportunity to go after those people who actually did attack us to continue that war.
12.  Trying to call a desire to control the sex lives of others calling it a "right to life" when all concern for the well being of those children ends at birth.
13.  The seemingly incompatible view that it is okay for the state to kill you but it isn't okay for you to kill yourself.
14.  Claiming to be opposed to huge deficits and taxes and still crying for services that won't be paid for
15.  Mandates that are not funded.
16.  Using religion to deny civil rights to people who seek to be married.
17.  Calling people who question your values unpatriotic .
18.  Treating immigrants, documented and undocumented as serfs to do your bidding for next to nothing.
19.  Spending millions of dollars to deny the people who are sick and disabled the access to the funds that they paid into social security for their entire working lives.
20.  Ignoring the will of the people in favor of bailing out huge poorly managed companies with tax money and not giving the people a say in how those companies reorganize themselves to prevent the failures from recurring.
21.  Using biased supreme court judges to decide the nations elections.
22.  ad infinitum

I know that none of these will satisfy the right wing trolls.  Still, I had to answer this challenge.   Without hijacking someone elses blog.

Oooh firsties. Why are we even thinking about "letting it go", when the neo fascists are not letting it go? I join you in grave concern that they could be back in power in three years or less.

If they ever take power again, we are sunk as a nation and as a global society, so we'd better get off "don't ask don't tell" raises for veterans (and I'm one) and anything else that is not about saving our nation from the evil that those people bring everywhere they go.

I want Cheney in jail.

Rated. Zumapick.
me too Zuma, and happy anniversary.
Bob, you forgot to tell how they are forcing white rappers on us. That just takes it to a whole new level. Great Post!
R~
Amen and amen, Bob. You're on a roll!
There's an article in the NYTIMES today that says the US has a thousand military bases around the world, some of which were built after the expulsion of thousands of indigenous people, and yet we cannot agree to provide universal health care. The Germans, the most military nation until this one, has been offering it to their citizens since the 19th century, and now the left is attacking Obama with greater ferocity by the day thinking their defection will teach the rest a lesson. hello, hello
You know, it is very, very provocative to use the word "fascist". Nicely done! Rated for GREAT BIG BALLS!
Wow, a concise list that covers nearly everything! I'm trying to think of something else. Hmmmm - lying to old people? Making up things to scare voters like death panels? Being in politics to win but not to govern? Stealing the taxpayers money for golf trips, house additions, gambling, prostitutes and new jets? Well, I think you got the main things and I'm just being petty here.
You commie, pinko, socialist, Hitler worshipping, cat petting scum bag, ass monkey in a pinstriped suit.....Your points are pointless...your face is stupid....and....everyone hates you they are just too afraid to say so because of your well known 'Death Squads'.
That being said, I give this 30 points for controversy.

Right on Bobbot. I'd rate this 50 times if I could, and I'll add a couple more;

23. Chipping away at our civil rights with things like warrantless wiretapping and legislation such as the Patriot Act.

24. Elevating ignorance to the level of ideology while purging anyone capable of independent thinking from their ranks.

25. Putting us through 8 years of George Bush and the Neocons, then being ready to start a civil war after 8 months of Obama.
I'd like to see you when you get REALLY mad. Great list. add what nana said and agree with everybody else (except that weird shit Andy said).

I might add: dissing the president during a joint session of congress and on live tv.
A lot of these can be said for both political parties, but I agree that some of them are uniquely republican. rated.
What is the difference between the US parties? Are the democrats more conservative and for social welfare while the republicans more into world change, tax cuts and decentralisation?

Somehow your political parties do not fit into an European party scheme. I find it surprising that the GOP colour is red and they use these self-ironic symbolics like an elephant or a donkey. Hannibal vs. Jesus?
I agree with almost everything
I HONESTLY THINK WE WOULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED MCCAIN--REALLY
Great post! One thing though; though I realize you did say "facist nauture," facism is typified by a ruling body led by a dictator who has total power... hardly how I would characterize the crapola GOP right now. Though it DID characterize them when Bush The Evil Idiot Who is Too Stupid to Know he is an Idiot or Evil was in power.
Anyway, I like the political stuff. Will keep reading you :-)
Rated. (I'm ranted out for the day, so no comment...)
What Michael said. Rated.
Bush is a war criminal as are others of his administration, no question. A great list.
No wonder I can't sleep tonight. My list is very similar to yours!
Great post, and these hijinks and the attitude behind them are something to be very concerned about.
I'm delving into that issue myself with a series about authoritarianism in conservative politics. The first post is at my blog this AM.
i don't even recognize our government or our country anymore. everything just feels crazy and evil. i'm with Zuma!!! cheney, rove, all of them in jail! and it is evil. it's serious evil. LOVE YOUR NEW AVATAR. just adorable. love love love
Great list. I got so sick of the tightie righties telling me I wasn't patriotic because I didn't support everything Bush said and did, yet the minute Obama gets in there then they have a pass to lie and smear to their heart's content.
I couldn't agree more with you. Check out my latest post....same topic.
Ooops, you already did check it out!
I love the simplest definition of fascism: is a political ideology that seeks to combine radical and authoritarian nationalism, with a corporatist economic system. Fascists believe that nations and/or races are in perpetual conflict whereby only the strong can survive by being healthy, vital, and by asserting themselves in conflict against the weak. Tell me which part of that the GOP rejects? none.
Well, I certainly seem to have raised a few eyebrows with thus one. For the most part individual replies are going to get repetitive since thanks is the only appropriate reply. So please, if you aren't mentioned by name it doesn't mean that your words mean any less or are not appreciated.

Bill I used fascist since by definition that is the face they are showing. I am afraid but not fearful. I will not hide and I won't mince terms to protect their sensibilities or to aid them in denying the truth.

NatalieNP, True that many can be stuck to either party or at least to some of their members. The GOP can be handed every last one of them and many not mentioned. Fascism rose in countries that felt pushed aside in the new order after world war one. Countries that lost status and economic clout in their sphere of influence. Countries full of people who refused to grow with the world and that had the intention of wielding global power as they had in the past while economic troubles crippled them internally.

Andre' welcome, Your question deserves as impartial repy as possible, I presume that you are not a U.S. resident or have not been one long. Simply put the modern versions of these party's are that the Democrats are seen as being socially liberal and the party of the working people. They have no intention of interfering with the secular nature of our government. They promote a platform of inclusiveness and civil rights. The Republican party espouses theoretical conservative fiscal policy and morality with strong links to Christian religion, also they claim to support the free market system and a strong worldwide military presence. The symbols were created in the late nineteenth century by a political cartoonist named Thomas Nast the elephant was to symbolize the the GOP as a party of those who had much and did not intend to share it, the Donkey was to symbolize the stubborn nature of the party and it's unwillingness to compromise even when compromise was the best solution.

Everyone else, I am truly glad that you read and took the time to comment, thanks.
Bravo on this great list. It's what's been giving me migraines for months. And that's the good news... Now, what are we going to DO about this??
Great post Bob. The saddest thing, though, is that you barely scratched the surface of all the crimes and misdemeanors perpetuated by the Bush white house...it only goes, like, a fingernail's depth into all their bullshit. Points for having the nads to say what could not have been said a few years ago without Cheney (or Dickie, affectionately) shooting you in the face, obviously mistaking you for some leftist deer.
Sorry Bob. The above comment was from me but apparently Jesse was signed in. Dog balls.
