Winds are howling in the mid West this morning, bringing cold and Winter in full force to the places that have been so far a good bit warmer than normal. It hails the furious malestrom that the world will face this year.
We miss the important news for the foolish and garish stories of the nonsense that we are fed to keep us looking in the wrong direction. I'm a bit of an amateur historian and I try to glean my opinions from reading newspapers from important twentieth century periods and I find that many of the same games have been played before.
Everything that horrified us after the discovery of the greusome details of the fascist powers of that period was public knowledge long before the camps were uncovered. What the goals were regarding those who were deemed dangerous or inferior were all not just available for people to see they were reported on by news organizations and men like Ed Murrow and William Shirer long before the first tank rolled into Poland or France.
The world seems to be fixed on the foolish over the substantive today, we fight over simple human rights and dignity while we finance our heritage and our lives work for gizmos and gadgets that we might find uesful if the world was as painted.
Secrecy is the villian today as it was in the past too. It was easier for us to be distracted when our bellies were empty, oddly enough it seems that secrecy is not as important when they are relatively full. We ignore the warnings and the true nature of what leads to a war. We fail to recognize the the indicators because we spend to much time on the trivial.
Iran is a smart and dangerous enemy. Don't forget that it was the Persians who invented chess. Knee jerk reactions are what defeat most amateur chess players and we the people are amateurs. The professionals like to stake their places in the game by the bodies of those they defeat without struggle.
The world has become a tricky game of three dimensional chess. We, as pawns would do well to aspire to a better fate than inclusion in the pile of pawns that line the board while kings remain 'till the end.

We'll discover, once again, why pawns are pawns and kings are kings.
We'll remember when those "kings" were pawns and in that memory convince ourselves that we too will become kings.
We won't.

Time to open our eyes a little wider,
and realize we truly need to pull our heads out of the sand.
Phylliss's "'The bullies become our leaders and we bleet, me included, about what can we do. " realy strikes as profound.
But, then again there is Libya and the impossible can become the possible.
In between, I wish you the best of Years, Bobbot.
