I built inkjet printers, embedded computer boards, restored and repaired both cars, motorcycles and electronics. I read, write, and do arithmetic (albeit poorly) My wife claims that I have more useless knowledge than anyone on earth and resultingly no one will play trivial pursuit with me anymore. I do play pinohcle but due to my inability to cheat I don't win very often. Recently disabled I turned to Open Salon to re-engage my writing bug. Update, cat population now at 3. homes found for kittens. Update two add one cocker spaniel to the list and maybe just shoot me.

Some Anniversaries Just Plain Suck

Rate: 13 Flag

So much venom and hate going on  today.  I may be showing my age but next week will mark the 44th anniversary of the assassination of the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr.. The Summer that follwed this event was a tragedy for our entire nation and right now it seems that no one even remembers why it was such a tragedy.

Not long after the horror in Memphis we witnessed another tragedy on live TV, well we didn't see it but we heard the gunfire and we knew what had happened before even an ambulance arrived on the scene.  Bobby Kennedy was far from perfect but he actually gave a damn about what poor people had to deal with, he hated racism and after watching the same news that the rest of us did he saw nothing but disaster in Vietnam.

The events of the last month bring to me the memory of the possibilities we lost when those men were gunned down.  Take a minute, listen to this and think about what kind of world we want to leave our kids and their kids.  Peace.

This one is a bit long but listen closely at the 5:55  minute mark for three sharp pops.  Those are the gunshots that ended Bobby Kennedy's life

 'nuff sed?

Why do people not remember??? People laugh at me for sending people hugs.. ya know what.. maybe if we had more of it the world would not be such a bad place.
Thanks for this
HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
We haven't learned a lot, have we?
No wonder so many of my generation--1965 high school grad--tried so hard to change the world and came out of it with a cynical view of how the world works. I still choke up and fight back tears when I think of those sacrificed.
yeah, that Dion song has always haunted--especially since he had to re-do it after Bobby was asassinated.
I still remember....Why don't we ever learn?
Well apparently not 'nuff sed' 'cause it seems we keep having to say it :(. You have however said it - once more and with feeling - very well (as is your usual :).

Rated for looped reels.
I came back to read the comments, if any, and found my own stupid eyes welling as I listened to the Kennedy assassination. I was there for the event via live television even though it was well after midnight. I sat there stunned as the place went mad. We have been under the thumb of the right wing pretty much ever since. Thanks all, maybe I will be back when I get hold of my emotions.
I agree with you. It's amazing how age affects our perspective and concerns. I hope the next generation can improve the present conditions.
If these things didn't ever happen, we would still be humans searching for answers. Restless souls don't ever stop searching for truth.
