- Bio
- born in Illinois. 5 year Navy veteran. Married for 25 years (not counting the first five when we just cohabited. 4 kids, 6 grandkids, 3 brothers 2 living, 2 sisters 1 living, a mother living, a father not living. 1 dog a labradoodle, and a current cat population of 9 (I'm working on that number)
I've done a lot of jobs in my life, from shill at a carnival burlesque show to making medium caliber ammunition. I built inkjet printers, embedded computer boards, restored and repaired both cars, motorcycles and electronics. I read, write, and do arithmetic (albeit poorly)
My wife claims that I have more useless knowledge than anyone on earth and resultingly no one will play trivial pursuit with me anymore. I do play pinohcle but due to my inability to cheat I don't win very often. Recently disabled I turned to Open Salon to re-engage my writing bug.
Update, cat population now at 3. homes found for kittens. Update two add one cocker spaniel to the list and maybe just shoot me.

Is It Just Me?
Maybe it's just me, I find myself mesmerized by the television I watched as a child lately. I try to watch new shows and most of them leave me cold. The dramas are so formulaic that I sit and spout the dialogue as they go on. My wife thinks… Read full post »
As the World Passes Away
It's warm today, a bit more than average but, that isn't uncommon anymore. An early Spring that ended an almost unnoticible Winter. Not that mild Winters are in themselves a harbinger of doom. A sunny day as pleasant as one could wish for, the stiff breeze aside.
This is a decided… Read full post »
Fear and Loathing at the Disability Hearing (chapter two)
The hearing was a long goddam time coming. I was ushered out of the workplace on May 31 2007 and I've been waiting since then. I am a worry wart too so I spent most of the night befoe the hearing pacing and unable to sleep despite massive doses of drugs.… Read full post »
Fear and Loathing at the Disability Hearing
On a breezy May 31st in 2008 I was sent home /to the emergency room from my last job. I spent three days in the hospital and when I was released I was subject to a multitude of tests that culminated in what seemed to be a simple result. I had… Read full post »
Thursday's Adventures in Health Care
Perhaps the three or so of you who regularly view my little bloggy have noticed that I've not been myself for a bit. Not to belabor the point, but, I have not been well at all for a while now. Now, not to worry, I am doing as well as can… Read full post »

Reality Check V. 1.01
Good day, I am getting sick and tired of all the half truths, deliberate decption, and the outright lies. What the hell ever became of just plain telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Have we all decided that unless we are under oath and facing the… Read full post »
So Long Earl (Bluegrass Legend Dead at 88)
Well, I know that I am a rocker from way back, but don't forget I'm also a boy who was raised in and out of honkey tonks and roadhouses. That's why I'm sad to see that Earl Scruggs has passed away at the ripe old age of 88.
Earl was a… Read full post »

Dick Cheney Gets New Heart
Dick got a heart transplant. At age 71. Did he shoot the donor himself or did he have someone else do it? Is he going to use the old one as a doorstop?
I wanted to write something a little tongue in cheek, get a little laugh going but, the… Read full post »
Hoodies Don't Matter UPDATED
I have tried to resist the urge to get up on a soapbox on the subject of Treyvon Martins murder. I don't understand Florida law for one thing, how can an unarmed person make a life threatening action against a person armed with a pistol? How can it be possible to… Read full post »
Growth Spurt
When you are twelve years old and pudgy, you know it. When you are those things and not well off it amplifies the others. At twelve I was about five feet six inches tall and shall we say, plump? I was not what you would call popular. As a matter of… Read full post »
I Just Can't Help But Thinking I'm Living a Life of Illusion
Waking up with your arms and hands and fingers and wrists singing, vibrating, aching, and numb is a hell of a life. Couple that with the vague and somewhat sketchy diagnosis profile and you might get where I'm at these days. Not so long ago focus on other aspects of life… Read full post »
Is This the Best Republicans Can Do?
Forgive my hubris but, really? Is this the best that Republicans can come up with? I read a lot of unmitigated crap that is printed in the name of politics and I gotta tell ya that it is so damn dumb that I don't understand how anyone could believe it. I… Read full post »
My Annual St. Patrick's Day Booshwah with an addition

Peter Bergman, Co-Founder of The Firesign Theater Dies at 72
I won't belabor the facts of Peter Bergmans life, you can find them anywhere if you are interested. He was to me that shining light that told me that it was okay to love the humor in the absurd world of the sixties and seventies. He and his co-horts were responsible… Read full post »
My Own Mortality
I wasn't always obsessed with my mortality, for many, many years it lay dormant with no elevation to the conscious plain at all. The past ten years has changed all of that though.
