2011 called. It wants a do-over. I can't blame it. I mean, there were some utterly craptastic moments there. In fact, I would go so far as to say that 2011 contained some of the very worst moments in the lives of many people I know and love. So, as I said, I can't blame it for wanting to give this whole year thing another shot. Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way.
2011 is over. There were good times, and there were bad times. Some of the bad times were really very bad. Then again, some of the good times were very good. At the end of it all, although there were moments that felt like a punch in the gut ~ that knocked the wind right out of me ~ I'm gonna try not to hold it against 2011. See, I'm trying to be more forgiving in the new year.
So now, a bright, shiny brand new year stretches out before us, full of hope and promise. There is tremendous potential here, and I, for one, am pulling for 2012. After all, we're due a good year, aren't we? So let's all move forward, with the best of intentions, and see what this year has in store for us.
I know I could be wrong, but, right now, at this very moment, from where I sit, poised on the edge of a fresh new year, all I can see are possibilities. Time's a'wasting, as they say. So, let's all drink that proverbial cup of kindness and get on with it.
Goodbye, 2011. You were one tough cookie. As for you, 2012 ~ I saw you coming. I'm ready. Bring it on.
