I have so thoroughly enjoyed my two years blogging here in Open Salon--the exchanges with other regarding my own posts; the exchanges with others regarding their posts. In the concept of it, Open Salon was a brilliant idea, a blogging community for those with some moderate attention span. I take my leave now with no feelings other than sadness.

In the execution Open Salon has been a failure. The servers dedicated to it are obviously inadequate. The blogging software is obsolete. This obsolescence is aggravated by a lack of maintenance that has rendered more and more of the features of the software inoperable. The site simply does not work. I have not been one to complain and have abided this situation for a long time in the faith that ultimately when the funds become available or the will manifests itself, these problems would be corrected. They have not nor will they be.

I have therefore, along with many others, decamped to a new blogging community, a refuge for those who previously blogged here. I invite all of my old friends in Open Salon to stop by and say hello any time at my new blog in Our Salon. Both to those who do and to those who do not, I wish you Godspeed.

The difficulty that I have encountered in publishing this fond adieu is a measure of the truth of what I have said.
